The College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the University of Denverhas a job opening for a Director of Communications and Marketing. The collegeis home to five academic departments: Biological Sciences, Chemistry andBiochemistry, Geography and the Environment, Mathematics and Physics andAstronomy. The college offers over 30 degrees ranging from Bachelor of Arts toDoctor of Philosophy as well as having many active research labs fundedthrough extramural sources.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Finance and Operations, the Director ofCommunication and Marketing (DCM). The DCM leads the communication andmarketing efforts within the college and will plan, develop, implement,and assess all communication and marketing needs, strategies, and allforms of communication for key constituents/stakeholders with a highstandard of excellence. The DCM acts as a key partner in conjunction with thedepartment graduate program managers to create, develop, and implement anintegrated communication, marketing, and recruiting plan.
All messages and communications plans will be developed and shaped with muchthought for the direct needs of prospective students, and other keyconstituents. The DCM shares the responsibility to ensure the college ismeeting all enrollment and retention goals and supports the desire of theuniversity to attract and retain diverse students.
The DCM is required to keep abreast with communications, marketing, anddesign trends with special emphasis on the trends/methods being implementedby other enrollment divisions across the country. The DCM will partner withcampus colleagues to ensure a cohesive and consistent user experience forprospective graduate students. The DCM is responsible for promotinginformation flow within the college and the University and should haveexceptional interpersonal skills and demonstrate the ability to communicateeffectively.The DCM will be responsible for highlighting research efforts for the college.Identifying and reaching a target audience, generating imaginativesolutions, producing excellent print and digital communication materials.Collaboration with the Office of Graduate Education, central marketing,media relations, and advancement teams are key objectives of this position.
Essential Functions
In addition to following the University of Denver's policies andprocedures, principal responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Meeting with all college faculty to understand, catalog, and showcaseareas of research and specialty.Seeking out and reporting on the achievements, research, awards, andnotable events of the college, faculty, staff, and students.Providing direction and support to departments with regard to qualitygraduate student recruitment, updating and ordering college collateral asneeded.Overseeing alumni, faculty, and student newsletter drafting anddissemination; composing and scheduling bi-weekly faculty/staff newsletter.Posting to college social media regularly.Continually updating the college website and providing support todepartments.Event Coordination - Photograph college events for the newsletter, postNSM events on the online DU calendar, create flyers and digital content forads to promote events, create invitations for annual events, and ensuretechnology is working at events.Regularly evaluating and updating all content to reflect the changingdynamics of both the graduate program/information and the audience using oursites.Keeping abreast of marketing trends, especially as it relates torecruiting and admission.Creatively develop unique and innovative strategies yearly to maximizepotential and meet the college enrollment goals.Serving as primary liaison to DUs central marketing and communicationsteam, advancement team, and other campus communications partners.Facilitating strategic planning workshop .Developing communications strategies for NSM initiatives.Drafting and editing letters of acknowledgment, early admit letters,speeches, and fundraising letters.Managing the communication budget, including allocation recommendations ofexisting and new communication and marketing plans, projects, and routinebudget stewardship.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Bachelor's degree
