ABOUT THE POSITION
Director of Civil Engineering | Newark, NJ
VHB is seeking a Director of Civil Engineering, seller-doer, to join our dynamic, well established Northeast Civil Engineering practice and be an integral part of our growth in Northern, NJ as a Practice Builder. The client base is state and local public agencies, private real estate developers, and Higher Education/Institutional Campuses. The position offers opportunity in expanding and continuing to shape the group.
Responsibilities
Build and lead a team producing and delivering civil design projects from inception through the construction administration phase
Lead business development efforts, bringing new project opportunities; prepare and manage proposal submissionsCarry out supervisory responsibilities, including planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; coaching and mentoring; and resolving staffing problemsOversee pre-design project planning and technical task managementKnowledge of City, State, and Federal permittingManage the development of technical design teamAssist with strategy for expansion of civil services in NJMonitor department financial performanceAttend and lead meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders Attend VHB Leadership meetings, reporting on staff, workload, financial performance, and project performanceParticipate in professional organizations that promote relationships with clients and teaming partnersSkills and Attributes

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field of study15+ years of Civil Engineering design experience required20+ years' experience preferredNJ Professional Engineer (PE) license requiredWe are VHB!
