  The opportunity

  The Director, Global Pipeline and Asset Optimization will lead the commercial development of key pipeline assets from Nomination to Phase 2 development, including Lifecycle Management. In addition to leading the commercial direction of individual programs, this role also plays a role in guiding overall Pipeline commercial strategy. This is a highly collaborative position, requiring partnership with R&D (including Project Leadership) to translate science into commercial value, and to co-lead cross-functional and cross-regional matrix teams focused on driving program/asset level strategy and execution.

  How you’ll spend your day

  Key responsibilities include:

  Nominations of Discovery Assets for IND-enabling. This includes commercial evaluations of Discovery assets and recommendations of molecules/antibodies for progression to nomination. Broad understanding of scientific value and translation into commercial value is required.

  Market, Patient, Competitive, and Reimbursement Landscape Expertise. This role requires robust patient, market, competitive, and reimbursement understanding to inform program strategy, business case analysis, and product development plan. Collaboration with the Global Insights & Analytics team is essential to mastering the commercial landscape, including competition, patient journeys, unmet needs and reimbursement.

  Indication Selection and Sequencing. Indication selection is a critical part of this role and requires commercial evaluations across multiple therapeutic opportunities, as well as an understanding of the strategic implications of anchor indications and follow-on opportunities. Indication sequencing and Lifecycle Management are also essential.

  Target Product Profile (TPP) Development. Building and defending Target Product Profiles (TPPs) is the basis of input into the Clinical Development Plan, and it requires collaboration with clinical, regulatory, medical, CMC and Global Insights. This also is a critical element of critical stage gate decision criteria.

  Product Development Planning. This includes TPP development as well as a thorough understanding of Market Access/Reimbursement. This includes partnership with Medical Affairs and Regional market access to define clinical evidence requirements for reimbursement.

  Regional Selection & Prioritization. This included evaluation and prioritization of regional opportunities in the context of the global asset. Collaboration with R&D and Regional leadership is required to determine inclusion of regions in clinical development. Regional sequencing is another significant responsibility.

  Portfolio & Scenario Planning. This includes building asset forecasts and business cases in order to guide stage gate and decision/scenario planning and to prioritize across the pipeline portfolio. Ability to conduct commercial assessments is essential.

  Lifecycle Management Planning. Assess opportunities for follow-on indications and evaluate ways to optimize delivery through reformulations and devices. This critical strategic activity needs to be addressed during early development.

  Leadership of Matrix Teams. This role requires partnership in cross- functional, cross-regional matrix teams in collaboration with Project Leadership to drive Product Development Planning (PDP).

  Therapeutic Area Strategy. Lead strategic cross-functional collaboration to drive high level strategic decisions about pipeline priorities.

  Market Access. Build reimbursement framework and global value proposition.

  Governance deliverables and recommendations.

  Your experience and qualifications

  Education and Experience:

  BA/BS required; advanced degree preferred.

  Minimum 10 years of experience in the healthcare or pharmaceutical industry, with a minimum of 3 years of global marketing experience (Regional experience may also be considered)

  Strong strategic mindset and experience in strategic roles

  Extensive experience with R&D development of innovative products across a variety of therapeutic areas and treatment modalities

  Experience in the development and defense of a Target Product Profile (TPP).

  Experience in leading and managing global matrix, cross-functional teams.

  Business and Leadership Skills:

  Highly collaborative with experience working closely with Project Leadership and other R&D functions, as well as regional leadership.

  Ability to lead cross-functional partners without direct reporting structure.

  Strong understanding of pharmaceutical development process from pre-IND through regulatory approval and post-launch (including Lifecycle Management)

  Understanding of the development of brands and brand strategy, including positioning, segmentation, and branding for pipeline assets.

  Capable of scrutinizing business case assessments based on market/product insights and analytical methodology.

  Strong communication and presentation skills.

  Excellent problem-solving and analytic skills

  Strong organization skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.

  Strategic and critical thinking skills.
