As Director of Construction, you will be responsible for solving OSPconstruction issues at scale, writing standards, fleshing out how to bestadjust policy/procedure to account for human behavior to achieve the desiredoutcome for the company then document the instruction. You will work as partof a fast-paced team to determine operational requirements for tools andsoftware development to be used for OSP construction. You will advise,teach, and direct all aspects of OSP construction. You will deep dive intothe usage of construction materials for the company.
Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance thecustomer experience.
Recruits, coaches and develops the construction team.
Determines strategy, planning and execution of projects and initiativeswithin the construction functional area.
Manages day-to-day construction operations supporting residential,commercial and multi-family categories.
Achieves excellent relationships with internal customers includingEngineering, Technical Operations, Sales, Marketing, GovernmentAffairs and Customer Care.
Develops and maintains excellent relationships with franchise authorities,utilities and developer/builders relative to all aspects of the constructionprocess.
Formulates and controls capital and operating budgets and provides analysis offinancial performance in both areas of the P&L.
Negotiates and administers contracts with construction vendors and utilities.
Manages continuous improvement cycle and acts as a change agent asopportunities to improve departmental performance are identified.
Ensures that all applicable codes, standards, and proper constructionpractices are followed.
Develops assignments, timetables and responsibilities for team members forthe duration of the project.
Required Skills/Abilities and KnowledgeAbility to read, write, speak and understand EnglishUnderstanding of HFC Network design and operating principles including coax,fiber, and RF in both forward and return pathTechnical knowledge of CATV plant and fiber optic construction, includingdrafting procedures, layout and design, permitting and make-readyrequirements, aerial and underground construction practices, internalwiring specifications as well as an understanding of building materials andstrKnowledge of aerial and underground construction specifications and practicesKnowledge of MDU/Apartment prewire and post-wire construction specificationsand practicesAbility to handle various tasks simultaneously, organize and schedulework, prioritize commitments, make decisions and work effectively underproject deadlinesExtensive knowledge of OSHA, NESC, FCC and Industry Standard rules,regulations, and specificationsAdvanced budgeting and financial management skills and experienceStrong business planning and forecasting skillsStrong analytic, organizational, and problem solving skillsStrong team and relationship building skillsProven leadership and mentoring skillsAbility to analyze data and develop and present data driven reportsProficient in the use of PCs, including database management, E-mail, andspreadsheets
