JOB REQUIREMENTS: Overview Provides support with the daily activities ofa medical office by performing the following duties and other duties asassigned Responsibilities Rooms patients, collects assessment data andprepares patient according to specific need. Assists physicians inexamination, treatment and other clinic procedures. Assists withlaboratory procedures, screening tests and QI projects. Answerstelephone and either responds to inquiry, directs caller to appropriatepersonnel, or initiates a triage slip for response by medical personnel.Schedules appointments and enters appointment date and time intocomputerized scheduler. Conducts reminder calls to all patients. Greetand directs patients, salespeople, and visitors. Registers patients byverifying that patient\'s record is up to date and accurate. Makesappropriate changes in computer system and on patient\'s chart.Coordinates referrals for patients through insurance and other physicianoffices. Collects payment from patients and issues receipt. Prepares andmaintains patient charts. Maintains and orders supplies. May be requiredto work overtime during peak periods. Education and Experience Graduateof a medical assistant program accredited by the Accrediting Bureau ofHealth Education Schools (ABHES) or the Commission on Accreditation ofAllied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), or graduate of a medicalassistant program in a postsecondary school or college that hasinstitutional accreditation by a regional accrediting commission or by anational accrediting organization approved by the U.S. Department ofEducation. Experience in clinic setting preferred. Injection, specimencollection and phlebotomy training preferred. Certification/LicensureApproved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days.
