  Salary:

  For Part Time positions: $26.91 - $36.24/hour

  For Full Time positions: $49,153.00 - $66,205.00/year

  The Role:

  Implements programs and procedures designed to achieve objectives of department in care of individuals with developmental disabilities;

  Provides guidance and instructions to individuals in development of desirable personal habits, hygiene and social relationships;

  Responsible for individuals health and safety;

  Performs related duties as required.

  Position Highlights:

  2nd shift, Full Time (PCN 118707) Pine Unit, 70 hrs biweekly

  Friday 2p-9p; Saturday 2p-9p; Tuesday 5p-12a; Wednesday 2p-9p; Thursday 2p-9p

  (Regular Days off Sunday and Monday)

  3rd shift, Full-Time (PCN 118709) Pine Unit, 70 hrs biweekly

  Friday 12a-7a; Monday 12a-7a; Tuesday 12a-7a; Wednesday 12a-7a; Thursday 12a-7a

  (Regular Days off Saturday and Sunday)

  3rd shift, Full-Time (PCN 15731) Spruce Unit, 70 hrs biweekly

  Sunday 12a-7a; Monday 12a-7a; Tuesday 12a-7a; Wednesday 12a-7a; Thursday 12a-7a

  (Regular Days off Friday and Saturday)

  1st shift, Part-Time (PCN 15363) Oak Unit, 35 hrs biweekly

  Sunday 7a-2p; Monday 7a-2p; Tuesday 7a-10:30a

  (Regular days off Friday, Saturday, Wednesday, and Thursday)

  However, work schedule flexibility is required in order to meet the demands of the job.

  Incumbent in this position are expected to travel statewide.

  Must have a valid CT driver's license.

  Will be required to obtain an F-Endorsement on their driver’s license by the completion of the working test period.

  May be required to work nights and weekends.

  Selection Plan

  These positions will be filled in accordance with contractual language, reemployment, SEBAC, transfer, promotion and merit employment rules.   PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

  In the Department of Developmental Services this class is accountable for acting as part of a team in an intensive programming effort designed for the care, guidance, supervision and training of individuals.

  EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

  Implements programs and procedures designed to achieve objectives of department in care of individuals with developmental disabilities; provides guidance and instructions to individuals in development of desirable personal habits, hygiene and social relationships; responsible for individuals health and safety; implements individual program plans; reinforces appropriate individual behavior through modification techniques; participates in preparation, serving and feeding of meals to individuals; performs housekeeping duties necessary to maintain a clean and healthy environment for individuals; may lead and participate in social and recreational activities designed to develop individual potential; may act as shift charge; may attend interdisciplinary team meetings; may evaluate performance of subordinate staff; may provide orientation and basic inservice training to subordinate staff; may participate in special programs designed to fully develop potential of individuals; may administer first aid in emergency situations; may administer selected oral medications; performs related duties as required.

  KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

  Knowledge of fundamentals of hygiene and physical training; knowledge of safety, fire and first aid procedures; basic knowledge of interdisciplinary process for development of individual programs; considerable interpersonal skills; basic oral and written communication skills; skill in behavior management of individuals; ability to recognize and report behavioral change; ability to develop a positive relationship with individuals; ability to lead and participate in recreational and occupational activities; ability to follow oral and written instruction.

  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

  One (1) year of experience in the care and supervision of individuals with developmental disabilities at the level of a Developmental Services Worker 1 (or equivalent experience in a human service field).

  PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  Medication Certification.

  Experience providing counsel, comfort, or encouragement to individuals and/or families.

  Experience with electronic mail, word processing, calendar and scheduling computer software.

  Experience working with individuals with Autism.

  Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities.

  SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  Incumbents in this class may be required to obtain and maintain Medication Administration Certification from the Department of Developmental Services.2. Incumbents in this class may be required to be bilingual or fluent in American Sign Language.3. Incumbents in this class may be required to possess and retain a valid Connecticut Motor Vehicle Operator's license, Public Passenger Endorsement or Commercial Driver's license for designated positions.4. Incumbents in this class may be required to travel. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  Incumbents in this class must possess physical and emotional health for efficient performance of duties; a physical examination may be required.

  WORKING CONDITIONS

  Incumbents in this class may be required to lift and restrain individuals; may have significant exposure to communicable/infectious diseases and to risk of injury from assaultive/abusive individuals; may be exposed to strongly disagreeable conditions.
