We're seeking a Designer Drafter who will play a key role in creating detailed product drawings and 3D models for prototype designs, new products, redesigns, revisions, and product assemblies. The Designer Drafter will collaborate with AMERICAN Innovation, AMERICAN Valve and Hydrant, Waterous, and more to ensure seamless manufacturability. Responsibilities include assisting in data collection, organizing design files, and developing 3D models, assemblies, illustrations, and submittals for various departments, including manufacturing, sales, and marketing.
Makes detailed product models/drawings for development of new products, redesigned products, product revisions and product assemblies manufacturing using standard engineering practice.Performs various drafting, technical, manual and clerical duties as required by supervision to provide detail layouts, bills of material, and drawings.Keeps reports and test data files up to date.Performs maintenance of CAD files in response to engineering and/or customer changes.Prepares bill of materials for product implementation into production.Works with AMERICAN Innovation, AMERICAN Valve and Hydrant, Waterous and other organizations to develop and create 3D computer aided design (CAD) software models, assemblies, illustrations, submittals and engineering drawings to support the production of prototypes, final design, manufacturing, and quality specifications.Interfaces with engineers, customers, and other organizations to verify that data pertaining to product specification is documented accurately.Assists in data collection and data organization for proof of design files.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must exhibit attention to detail.Must exhibit an ability to learn.Must exhibit record of punctuality and good attendance.Must exhibit good command of grammar and spelling.Must display good communication and interpersonal skills.Must exhibit ability to work with confidential information and maintain confidentiality.Must have prior experience in drafting (sample of work required) using a computer-aided design (CAD) system (AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar).Must exhibit the ability to produce quality engineering drawings.Must exhibit the ability to work basic math, geometry, and trigonometry problems correctly.Must exhibit proficient computer skills and be knowledgeable of computer operating systems.Must exhibit the knowledge, skill and ability to understand and interpret product drawings, including basic welding notations, and machine marks.Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Two or more years' drafting experience.Some knowledge of basic engineering concepts such as stress and strain.Prior experience or training with SolidWorks software.Possess SolidWorks certification. Proof of certification required.Associate degree with college courses completed in engineering, math, science, or related fields from an accredited college or university. Proof of degree required.
