DESCRIPTION OF WORKAs a DEP Engineering Intern - Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation, you will assist staff geologists and engineers in planning, developing, and designing reclamation projects and completing environmental studies within the Division of Project Development and Design. This position will require you to travel throughout Pennsylvania's coal fields and will provide exposure to a wide range of environmental problems.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time internship.Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.Employment period: May 1, 2024 to August 30, 2024.Telework: Interns will have the opportunity to work from home (telework), part-time on a schedule that aligns with their supervisor, so they are in the office on the same days. No full time telework will be approved. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. Current full-time enrollment in a bachelor's degree, or advanced degree program in one of the following majors:Civil EngineeringEnvironmental EngineeringMining and Minerals EngineeringAn approved major course of study at an accredited college or universityGood academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher)Freshman year completedPennsylvania residency or enrollment at a Pennsylvania college or university
Additional Requirements:This position requires possession of a valid Class C non-commercial driver's license.You must be able to perform essential job functions.
