  About You and this Role

  Dow has an opening for a Cathodic Protection (CP)/Corrosion Technologist at the Freeport, Texas location. This role provides maintenance craft specific support to plants. Maintains and repairs all types of equipment within craft knowledge and expertise. Participates on maintenance team which supports reliability improvement across all Operations facilities. Requires full proficiency in a range of technical, operational, or analytical/scientific processes and procedures through job-related training and considerable on the job experience to perform a variety of work assignments. Acts as an informal resource for team members with less experience.

  Responsibilities

  Oversees CP contract field workforce and ensures the contractors are executing proper work scope to meet regulatory requirements.

  CP focal point and resource for team members with less experience and provides support to Dow and 3rd party on CP related information.

  Review and maintain CP Procedures, updating as needed with industry best practices and regulatory changes.

  Presents CP program and records during Department of Transportation Audits and implements changes to maintain compliance.

  Reviews Cathodic Protection (CP) data base, compile audit data, create maps for each line with all compliance reading locations. CP Annual survey (test points / casing readings).

  Review previous month CP compliance readings. Developed maps to trend readings throughout the pipeline to determine whether issue is local, or systemic.

  Reviews collected CP data and takes corrective actions for all deficiencies found during monitoring and routine inspection of the corrosion control systems.

  Supports site CP Projects (both IMP & CP) and takes part in Front End Load (FEL) activities.

  Makes site visits for pre job review to verify the site is ready for cathodic protection project.

  CP Design review with 3rd party Engineering Firm

  Ensures that CP Design meets the following: Dow Standards, NEC code, NACE code and PHMSA codes and reviews CP design with Corrosion Control Engineer Focal Point.

  Ensures that design concerns with inappropriately specified/installed materials with vendor are reviewed and mitigated.

  Lead and facilitate Monthly CP Priority meetings.

  Evaluate and remediate corrosion on pipeline segments, escalating concerns to Corrosion Control Engineering Focal Point.

  Evaluate products transported for presence of corrosive constituents and work with Corrosion Control Focal Point to implement P&M Measures.

  Integrate data gathered through integrity assessments and CP to analyze and determine if additional P&M Measures are needed.

  Requirements

  A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required.

  A minimum of 5 years of experience in cathodic protection/corrosion control.

  A minimum NACE level 2 certifications.

  Must have valid US Driver’s License.

  A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

  Preferred Skills

  An Electrician certification (example: NCCER) or equivalent experience is preferred.

  Knowledge of Bullhorn remote monitoring application is preferred.

  Working knowledge of applicable regulations (such as 49 CFR Part 192 & 195) and applicable industry organization standards and recommended practices (such as NACE, SSPC, ASME, etc.).

  Experience with Word, Excel, and other Microsoft software experience is also preferred.

  Experience with GIS Database
