Description and Requirements
Role Value Proposition:
This is a contracts counsel position in the MetLife Legal Affairs organization responsible to review, draft, and negotiate a wide variety of purchasing contracts in line with MetLife standard legal positions that minimize financial, performance, operational, regulatory, reputational, and technology-related risks.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as legal counsel advising business partners on legal risk associated with proposed transactions while managing an active workload of commercial contract negotiations.
Consults with Procurement and business clients to develop negotiation strategies, subsequently draft and execute negotiation of a variety of standard and non-standard agreements, contracts, and other legal documents related to the procurement of goods and services in accordance with business needs.
Confers with privacy, regulatory, cybersecurity, and compliance subject matter experts, as needed, during negotiations ensuring contracts comply with internal policies.
Advises on contracting policy and process standards in response to internal (e.g. procurement, vendor management, audit, security) and external inquiries (e.g., customer RFPs), as appropriate.
Communicates status of contract negotiations or reviews to clients and senior level management.
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:
5+ years related experience in commercial contract negotiations.
Juris Doctor and admission to at least one US state bar.
Preferred:
