About Compensation Analyst

  Job Description

  Are you a compensation professional looking to expand your knowledge of base and variable pay, as well as HRIS and analytics? As Compensation Analyst for The Washington Post's dynamic Human Resources team, you'll put your skills to work managing our day-to-day compensation processes and contributing to strategic-level programs designed to advance our goals of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.

   Motivational Fit: You are a self-starter who enjoys identifying a problem, researching options, and recommending a solution.You are an effective communicator, capable of relaying information, expectations, and feedback clearly and concisely.You enjoy working with qualitative data (e.g., analyzing a job), as well as quantitative data (e.g., preparing a compensation trends analysis).You take pride in producing high quality, error-free deliverables while moving quickly and under deadline pressure. You can keep quality up whether working on mundane, repetitive tasks or strategic-level projects.You value the responsibility that comes with handling sensitive compensation information. Responsibilities include:

  Evaluate jobs and create accurate job descriptions, including responsibilities and required qualifications. Assign jobs to the appropriate compensation structures, FLSA classifications and union jurisdictions.Advise hiring managers and recruiters on competitive market positioning and internal pay equity by analyzing compensation data, including salaries, bonuses, and benefits.Process compensation- and job-related transactions, such as creating new job profiles, reclassifying positions, processing job and compensation changes, and creating position requisitions.Participate in multiple salary surveys and track survey participation costs. Maintain the online market-pricing tool by resolving data issues.Conduct market research and benchmarking by gathering data on industry compensation trends and practices.Assist with annual merit and bonus processes.Conduct manager training on writing effective job descriptions.Recommend improvement in compensation plans, workflows, and Workday processes. Requirements include: Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of experience in compensation or equivalent experience and education.Knowledge of compensation laws, regulations, and best practices.Experience with job analysis, job classification, and market pricing required; knowledge of formal job analysis methodologies is a plus.Prior experience administering compensation processes; strong attention to detail and accuracy in data analysis.Strong Excel skills.Strong communication and presentation skills.Excellent time management and project management skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.Proficiency using HRIS and market-pricing tools; experience with Workday preferred.PHR, SPHR, CCP or advanced degree (preferred).#LI-Hybrid
