Job Summary
Administer and coordinate compensation plans, programs, and regulatory compliance including wages, base salary, annual raises, supplemental compensation, executive compensation, independent contractors, etc. Maintain compensation program records including employee data, position data, salary data, etc.
Essential Functions
*Compensation Plan/Program Administration *
Co-lead (alongside Asst Director of Compensation) the Annual Salary Review process and Independent Contractors. May provide assistance in managing other major compensation programs.Independently direct and make decisions for one or more intermediate compensation programs (e.g., Supplemental Compensation).May be responsible for regulatory compliance of one or more intermediate compensation programs.Provide other compensation administration leadership and/or support for programs, plans, operations, policy, and/or compliance as assigned by the Compensation Director or Assistant Director.Compensation Project Support
As assigned from the Compensation Director and Assistant Director, manage significant portions of broad, campus-wide Compensation projects, including but not limited to:Compensation Processing
Personnel actions ¿ ensuring hires, job changes, salary changes, leaves, and terminations are processed in an accurate and timely manner.Timekeeping and Payroll for special leaves, severance agreements, and other special payouts.Position Management ¿ manage all non-faculty full-time and ¾-time positions accurately and timely in the HRIS system.Provide support for job evaluations ¿ prepare notes, take notes, and process changes for jobs that have been evaluated.Other facilitation of Compensation needs of campus ¿ responding to inquiries, providing support to external units, providing retirement estimates to Benefits, running reports, investigations of histories and issues, etc.
Education/Experience
*Minimum Education/Experience Required: *
Bachelor¿s degree in HR, business, or related field + 1 year HR experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.Preferred Education/Experience:
Bachelor¿s degree in HR and at least 1 year of experience in Compensation.Skills, abilities, knowledge, licenses, certifications:
Required:
Foundational understanding of FLSA, employment law, and other HR laws.Thorough and consistent decision-making.Excellent attention to detail and follow-through.Strong math skills in order to accurately calculate accruals, service time, etc.Developing data analysis skills.Demonstrated strong abilities in Microsoft products, especially Excel.Excellent customer service skills.Demonstrated ability to prioritize work, multi-task, and change priorities as issues arise.Demonstrated ability to work well with interruptions while meeting task deadlines.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.Demonstrated ability to work well in sharing responsibilities and working in close proximity to coworkers.Preferred:
BYU HR experience.Familiarity with job architecture.Familiarity with salary-survey interpretation and management.Data and statistical analysis experience.Microsoft Excel expertise.
