  Salary $70,000 to $90,000 DOE

  Job Summary

  The Community Relations Manager supports relationship management at One Hope United (OHU) and is an integral part of the OHU Advancement team. Reporting to and working closely with the Director of Advancement, the Manager plays a vital role in developing and executing integrated plans for community engagement that help drive measurable results for OHU in areas including, but not limited to:

  • Fundraising special events, donor engagement and volunteer management

  • Support logistics at agency, board, and volunteer events

  • Recruitment for staff, foster parents and Early Learning & Child Development families

  This is a hybrid position with two days/weekly in the Chicago office. Local and out-of-state travel as well as occasional evening and weekend work required. In addition, regular regional committee meetings, especially in Lake County, IL, also required.

  Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plans and executes all fundraising events including, but not limited to, the annual spring event, golf outing, fall fundraiser, and One Hope United Day.

  • Works collaboratively with board members, key donors, and community volunteers to ensure independent events have required operational support.

  • Provides support for internal organization-wide staff events, including but not limited to; Hope Academy, OHU Annual Community Meeting, quarterly Board meetings, and an annual Board Retreat.

  • Prepares and delivers pre-event briefing materials, staffs the President and CEO, Board Chair, and other Board members, when appropriate at events and functions.

  • Establishes major and principal gift engagement and prospect events, including site tours and receptions.

  • Manages all aspects of event operations, including systems, volunteers, vendors, and budgets.

  • Works closely with all members of the Advancement team and others to ensure event assets, budget, timelines and goals are produced and met.

  • Works closely with HR and program teams to determine promotional materials for initiatives and events.

  • Manages the OHU-branded merchandise and event assets inventory to ensure optimal items are available and accessible for Hope member’s utilization.

  • Works with internal partners, the Advancement team, interns, and vendors to manage event plans from conception to completion.

  • Measures effectiveness of event efforts, reports outcomes to key stakeholders, and makes updates to plans as needed.

  • Contributes event content to the OHU communication channels (website, social media, monthly staff and external newsletters.

  • Supports the CRM platform to ensure donors and volunteers’ efforts are recorded and acknowledged.

  • Manages special projects as assigned.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned

  Qualifications

  • Team player with a positive attitude

  • Ability to work independently to produce high quality results, and manage multiple clients, projects, and vendors

  • Proven experience with event planning and execution

  Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Education in nonprofit management, marketing, or communications preferred.

  Experience

  • 5-7 years of relevant event planning experience

  • Experience with event budget creation, volunteer management, and vendor sourcing/management

  • Ability to use and/or introduce digital tools to enhance productivity, streamline processes, and ensure smooth experience for attendees

  • Experience working with various levels of organizational leadership

  Other

  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record with One Hope United’s required levels of coverage for auto insurance

  Required Skills

  • Strong attention to detail and a good aesthetic sense

  • Comfortable with providing direction for creative assets, venue set-up, and program schedule

  • Discretion regarding sensitive and confidential material

  • Ability to initiate and manage relationships with internal and external partners at all levels, communicating with professionalism

  • A keen sense of accountability and exceptional project management skills; ability to work independently as well as collaboratively, and a strong drive to meet and exceed event goals

  • Familiarity with the nonprofit sector, fundraising, and donor engagement methods

  • Proficient with MS Office, CRM and event software

  Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position requires visual and auditory acuity within professionally determined normal ranges, with correction if need; and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer and office equipment, including, but not limited to, the telephone, computer, and copier. The employee is occasionally required to move items up to 50 pounds. The employee works in varied residential environments based on assigned caseload and may encounter unpredictable clients. While performing the duties of this position, the employee travels by automobile and is exposed to changing weather conditions. The employee must be able to enter and exit a vehicle or a building without assistance. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently drive an automobile, taking clients to appointments, in the local and regional area. Occasionally, travel is outside the local area and overnight.
