Canadian Pacific Railway operates 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, and 365 days a year. Within the Department of Engineering Operations, there are two facets component in Signals and Communications: Construction and Maintenance. Signalman and Signal Maintainers work mostly alone on aspecified assigned territory by the Supervisors where the job can occasionally be physically demanding.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

They will also install, repair and maintain various equipment such as: signals, lights, switch machines, electrical switch locks, switch circuit controllers, as well as crossing warning devicesOther general duties include cable locates, painting and housekeeping of signal housings and equipment climb and troubleshoot signal structures and make electrical connectionsThe role of Signal Maintainer is an important link between ensuring compliance with FRA regulations and customer satisfaction while achieving the safest most efficient railroad operationsTypical schedule is Monday - Friday with subject to callActivities by instruction and supervision of crew foreman:Work Safe PracticesComply with Company and Regulatory Rules and PoliciesDigging, cable repair, housing keeping, assembly of signal equipment, wiring of signal equipment, pole line workRepair or replace damaged equipmentTest and verify correct operation of SandC systems and equipmentPerform preventive maintenance on all SandC apparatusMake inspections and tests as required on each deviceReport problems; failures or unsafe conditionsPlan his/her own work and coordinate it with the work of othersEnsure there is enough material on hand to permit work or repairs to be completed without undue delayOnly make authorized corrections and modificationsPOSITION REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)Must possess a valid driver's licenseMust be at least 18 years oldApplicants must be able to work outdoors and adverse weather condition.
