Those services provide functionality which covers data consistency, feature usage tracking, internal/external observability, automatic tuning, data persistence, queues, caches, locks and more. We are looking at expanding our team to handle the next big challenges for Snowflake customers.AS A SENIOR DISTRIBUTED SYSTEMS ENGINEER AT SNOWFLAKE YOU WILL:Solve real business needs at large scale by applying your software engineering and analytical problem solving skillsDesign and implement scalable distributed systems for our query platform.Analyze fault-tolerance and high availability issues, performance and scale challenges, and solve them.Leading cross-functional initiatives, and collaborating with engineers, product managers and Technical Program Managers across teamsUnderstand trade-offs between consistency, durability and availability to build solutions which can meet the demands of rapidly growing services.Ensure operational readiness of the services and meet the commitments to our customers regarding availability and performance.OUR IDEAL SENIOR DISTRIBUTED SYSTEMS ENGINEER WILL HAVE:5+ years industry experience designing, building and supporting large scale systems in production.Experience building large scale distributed fault tolerant services.Excellent understanding of low level operating systems concepts including multi-threading, memory management, networking and storage, performance and scale.Strong CS fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.Systems programming skills including multi-threading, concurrency, etc. Fluency in C++ or Java is preferred.Track record of identifying and implementing creative solutions.Experience with cloud infrastructure - AWS, Azure or Google CloudExperience building data focused systems at cloud scale.BS in Computer Science; Masters or PhD Preferred.The following represents the expected range of compensation for this role:The estimated base salary range for this role is $246,100 - $376,913.Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Snowflake's bonus and equity plan.The successful candidate's starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location.
