The Thermo Fisher Scientific West Hills site produces medical diagnostic kits that are used by customers in the Transplant Diagnostics market. Our team is multifaceted and fast paced, relying on partnership, multitasking, and communication within the team and the larger organization. The Cold Storage technician is essential in building and supporting the equipment infrastructure for future growth. This role is a key player in the installation, maintenance, and upgrade of equipment, processes, and reporting systems. The Cold Storage technician will interact regularly with multi-functional departments particularly EHS, Manufacturing, Engineering, Technical Operations, R&D, and Quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Performing cold storage equipment repairs as they arise, supporting production demands.
Respond quickly to all freezer equipment issues including after hr alarms.
Perform failure analysis on cold storage equipment failures and discrepancies.
Work in collaboration with ULS as needed for service contracts and external vendor repairs.
Perform Preventive Maintenance (PM) and calibration tasks related to freezers.
Support Calibration and service of assets on site.
Work with engineers production managers, and Quality to improve manufacturing processes,
Perform Validations (IQ/OQ/PQ) and reports.
Participating in Kaizen events for cost-saving opportunities as needed.
Collaborating with site managers to ensure all equipment is maintained and supporting processes are safe for colleagues.
Performing other tasks as assigned within the context of proven skills.
Minimum Requirements:
Candidate will have a combination of education and experience that confer the needed manufacturing, scientific, laboratory technical, skills.
High School Diploma (GED) and 5+ years of experience manufacturing in an industry requiring cGMP and ISO regulations for diagnostics manufacturing. or
Bachelor’s degree in industrial, chemical, electrical, or related engineering field (Prefer) plus Minimum of three (3) years of experience manufacturing in an industry requiring cGMP and ISO regulations for diagnostics manufacturing.
Experience in the use of process improvement and Lean methodologies.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio software.
Capable of exercising independent judgment in decision making and execution of duties.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to efficiently evaluate, prioritize, and adapt to changing project priorities.
Must have proficient verbal and written communication skills in English; including experience writing procedures and presentation skills.
“HVAC certification desirable.”
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $73,000.00–$90,000.00.
