Job OverviewThe CNC Operator - Gearing / Shaping /Turning will be involved with butnot limited to: Gear Shapers: Operates a gear shaper, places piece onmachine manually or with the aid of the overhead crane. Indicates piecewith dial indicator, sets machine using set up sheets in system andselecting and changing gears. CNC Live Spindle Vertical Turning Centers:Operates CNC vertical turning centers, presets and loads tools inchanger locations as specified in program, places piece on machine tablemanually or hitches properly and loads with a Jib crane or flooroperated overhead crane, selects proper chucking jaws or fixture, alignsand indicates piece on table. Key Job Responsibilities Operates GearShapers (Gleason / Fellow andBourn & Koch.), CNC Live Spindle VerticalTurning Centers (FIVES formerly G&L), performing all machiningoperations possible on these machine tools. Reviews Schedule on cell PCand determines next jobs to run and sequence. Secures drawing andprogram package including programming master, setup instructions,tooling list, etc. Determines sequence of operations, presets tools,loads them in tool changer, spindle head, as specified, edits programmanually as required. Performs close tolerance machining operations suchas turning, drilling, tapping, reaming, boring, counter boring, spotfacing, milling, and shaping. Manually deburrs and inspects work piecesto print tolerances using, machine probe, manual inspection tools andgauges. Engraves and Identifies parts and fills out documentation asrequired. Operates machine under keyboard control either CNC or manuallywhen necessary. Uses Probe to inspect, gather data, and analyze data,then acts on results.
