The Cloud Engineer position for Vanguard’s OI Team (Operational Intelligence) team is an amazing opportunity to further your expertise and demonstrate technical leadership at Vanguard and support the main infrastructure on which most Vanguard’s workloads across the globe reside. This resource will partner to lead, design, and implement solutions for OI across observability and monitoring platforms used by Vanguard.

　　work with a variety of cloud native AWS services to develop full stack solutions, that will service global multi-functional teams across the Vanguard enterprise

　　Ensure the end-to-end quality and success of our operational intelligence product suite following industry best-practices.

　　Help Vanguard prepare for success in the face of the unexpected demands of the modern web.

　　Work with Development Teams, Site Reliability Engineers, Delivery Managers, Platform Teams, Architects and more to find the most efficient ways to scale

　　What it takes

　　Work with architects and other IT and business groups to identify technical and functional needs of applications based on priority

　　Design and build cost-efficient cloud-native solutions for cross-functional, multi-platform internal and client facing applications

　　Ability to decipher complex, ambiguous customer needs and translate into optimal feature delivery

　　Writing great quality code with a drive for automated testing and validation

　　Thinks in terms of architecture as well as code. Able to develop and evaluate solutions for strengths and weaknesses (e.g., complexity, quality, scalability, latency, security, performance, data integrity, etc.) which are key for an enterprise engineer

　　Experience working with AWS technologies ECS, Docker, Fargate, EC2, Step functions, CloudWatch, etc.

　　Experience with Security stacks such as IAM, Okta OIDC, Auth0, Secrets Manager, etc.

　　Understands software engineering standard processes (e.g. CI\CD automated pipelines, Operational Excellence, Information Security IAM)

　　Experience with deployments and dev ops

　　Experience with application integration via APIs/REST, API Gateways

　　Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring other engineers on standard processes

　　a self-motivated learner, building and supporting resilient serverless stacks; and also an experienced leader with vision, driving design and large-scale implementation decisions.

　　Plans and implements new technologies and major releases for the most critical enterprise-wide IT cloud platform projects. Designs, implements, and deploys cloud computing systems to support and meet business needs. Identifies, recommends, and implements opportunities for improvement and performance issue solutions.

　　Provides expert level technical support and ensures reliable operation of cloud production. Diagnoses and troubleshoots the most complex issues for cloud computing systems on multiple platforms. Maintains comprehensive technical knowledge of software and infrastructure platforms.

　　Develops technical standards. Tests and evaluates IT vendor products. Reviews configuration parameters to optimize system performance and maximize operation uptime

　　Elevates code into the development, test, and production environments on schedule. Provides follow-up production support. Submits change control requests and documents.

　　Learns and understands client area business functions and requirements. Determines the appropriate technical tool to address the client's business needs.

　　Trains and mentors more junior staff on processes and technologies. Troubleshoots and resolves the most complex issues elevated from staff. Provides guidance and consultation as required. Updates, writes, and maintains documentation for the department.

　　Administers system activities. Writes the technical portion of assigned deliverables. Performs systems analysis, including system requirements analysis and definition, and logical design.

　　Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

　　Qualifications

　　Minimum of nine years related work experience.

　　Undergraduate degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of training and experience.
