Con Edison, a multibillion-dollar energy utility, is leading the clean energy transition in New York City and Westchester County. We are investing hundreds of millions of dollars annually to integrate distributed resources into our electric and gas systems, support electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and scale adoption of energy efficiency and clean heating technologies across our customers. The Energy Storage team is at the core of the Con Edison strategic vision to help the New York State achieve its Climate Leadership & Community Protection Act (CLCPA) goals.
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Clean Energy Engineer is pivotal to the origination and development of innovative distributed energy resources (DERs). Selected candidates will provide support in identifying solutions for clean energy projects by collaborating with customers, internal stakeholder organizations, renewable energy developers, utilities, and government funding agencies.
Selected candidates will develop subject matter expertise in energy storage, distributed generation, and renewable energy projects, and the utility interconnection processes, identify opportunities to enhance the customer experience through customer engagement, as well as process improvement.
The individual in this role will support the execution and commissioning of both current and future energy storage projects. The Engineer will provide both engineering and business support associated with the implementation of the distribution system energy storage projects.
The individual in this role will support with the evaluation, design, modeling, planning, execution, and operation of energy storage projects. This is a great role to demonstrate your ability to drive results, demonstrate application of cross-disciplinary skills to the clean energy space and gain firsthand experience with the clean energy transition.
The Clean Energy Engineer will create, administer, and communicate operating procedures and engineering plans and specifications to the Engineering and Operations staff to ensure proper reinforcement, maintenance, and construction.
The Clean Energy Engineer will assist in preparing presentations for upper management and external stakeholder events; be able to coordinate efforts with diverse groups both internally and externally; demonstrate knowledge of the utility business, perform economic analysis from both a corporate and a customer point of view; exhibit a proactive problem solving mindset; demonstrate the ability to deal effectively with stakeholders and Company upper management, and generate a high level of trust and confidence in our customers and stakeholder groups.
Perform special tasks (technical and non-technical) and assignments as directed by the Department Manager
Responsible for managing competing priorities and ensure all work is completed in the most productive and safe manner.
The Clean Energy Engineer will also monitor Federal, State and City proceedings related to energy storage and remains up to date when it comes to any changes with these proceedings and processes.

Engineer, procure, construct, and maintain utility-owned energy storage projects across all Con Edison operating regions.
Ensure coordination and cross-departmental alignment of energy storage integration, including but not limited to Electric Operations, Central Operations and Shared Services organizations.
Help develop contracts for vendor selection and negotiations. Manage contracts and change orders.
Develop and maintain operating procedures and specifications for design, integrations/testing, commissioning, operations, and market participation for each energy storage asset.
Conduct studies to determine operational parameters for energy storage systems including but not limited to cycling, charge/discharge times, bias, and thermal runaway.
Manage the design and building of civil, electrical, and mechanical infrastructures needed for DER system deployments.
Perform other related assignments, as needed.
Required Education/Experience
Bachelor's Degree and and 3 years engineering work experience.Relevant Work Experience
Requires a minimum of 3-year work experience in engineering. Required
Three (3) years of demonstrated technical knowledge of Utility electrical system, energy storage systems, project management, or construction. Required
Experience related to research, engineering and/or operations of utility electrical systems (distribution & transmission). Required
Proven leadership skills, innovation, and ability to adapt to change. Required
Good communication, negotiation, organizational skills, and accountability. Required
Ability to exercise independent judgment and render sound business decisions. Required
Ability to effectively interact with all levels of management, as well as with customers, vendors, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders. Required

Ability to conduct presentations to audiences of all sizes and types. Required
Strong knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, Projects). Required

Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
