Job Summary
Serves as the Chief Financial Officer of Geisinger Insurance Operations, consisting of the the Health Plan, Geisinger Indemnity Insurance Company, and Geisinger Quality Options. Responsible for the planning, directing, and overall control of financial plans and policies as well as administering the Geisinger Insurance Operation’s accounting practices including financial, actuarial, and underwriting services.
Job Duties
Assures the preparation of consolidated, legal entity, and other managerial financial statements.
Assures the maintenance of appropriate supporting documentation for those financial statements including primary responsibility for chart of accounts, general ledger, and other related records.
Assures the preparation of other periodic internal and external financial and management reports as necessary.
Assures the execution of the financial planning cycle including the preparation of long-range financial forecasts, feasibility studies as needed, and annual budgets.
Assures compliance with all corporate policies and procedures relating to Geisinger financial reporting, financial planning, and reimbursement activities.
Provides direction and leadership within the areas of Actuarial Services and Underwriting operations.
Directs the functions of product development, premium pricing, reserving, rate filing, provider contracting analysis, trend analysis, and data management for all products.
Assures the development and maintenance of appropriate internal controls to adequately safeguard the assets of the organization and to assure accurate financial reporting for both management and external purposes.
Cooperates with internal and external auditors in their review of accounting procedures and records.
Acts as liaison between auditors and other Geisinger financial departments to coordinate audit execution and to facilitate other matters as necessary.
Communicates and consults with Geisinger Insurance Operations and Geisinger leadership with regard to the overall financial condition and performance operating units, and the development of operational policies and procedures which include a financial element.
Advises leadership regarding new programs and financial issues in a consultative role, making recommendations about the financial implications of a decision.
Provides evaluation, training, leadership, and direction to motivate and develop staff reporting directly to this position.
Directs the activities within area including strategic, capital, and tactical planning, oversight and continuous improvement of supporting operations.
Maintains and engages in a cooperative working relationship with Geisinger Finance Departments for shared responsibilities and services such as Financial Planning and Reporting, Treasury, and Investment.
