The Role
Fidelity's Fixed Income Division manages over $1.2 trillion and continues to see strong inflows into our funds. To support this growth and drive scale, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Software Engineering (Chapter Leader) to be part of a growing team that supports our Finance and Fund Oversight functions.
This management role blends the technology expertise needed to ensure engineering excellence with a passion for coaching and growing our full-stack software developers. Possessing a commitment to improving the value delivered to our clients via our Agile development process, this role focuses on the "how", collaborates with other leaders to establish engineering standards for excellence, influences strategic engineering and business technology decisions and drives the creation of value through the solutions delivered via Agile squads. You will lead a team of engineers who work within autonomous squads across Finance and Fund Oversight technology products and services.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
Proven successful experience as an engineering coach and mentor as well as developing emerging leaders to their full potential10+ years of software engineering and development experienceBachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, showcasing a strong foundation in technical knowledgeExperience planning development of team capabilities; identifying and acquiring strategic talent needsLeading software development teams in the creation and enhancement of high-quality technology solutions with low cost of ownershipExperience resource planning and talent allocation across large organizationsFinancial services experience in Asset Management preferred

In our Fixed Income Technology organization, we are committed to empowering our investment professionals with the very best tools and technologies to deliver world class investment performance to our customers. Our technology experts work across a broad array of investment processes supporting many different types of securities and investment objectives. Through outstanding business and technology partnership, we can offer great solutions to help our customers meet their financial objectives. Our Agile squads are composed primarily of full-stack engineers using Java, Python, Oracle, PL/SQL, Angular, and Kafka on the cloud to create the software that supports Fidelity's Bond and Money Market investment, portfolio management, investing and trading systems.
