Job Overview
The Instrument/Sterile Processing Technician Certified is an essential rolein patient safety and infection control by ensuring surgical instruments,endoscopes and patient care equipment is decontaminated, reprocessed, andmaintained. The Certified Technician operates several types of surgicalinstrument sterilizers and decontamination equipment.

Department Name: CSH Sterile ProcessingMultiple Shifts Are AvailableFull time - Nights, 40 hours per week. 4 ten hour shifts Mon-Thurs9-7:30am or 5 eight hour shifts Mon-Friday 11pm-7:30am. Eligible for benefits.Full time - Weekends, 40 hours per week. Friday - Monday 4 ten hour shiftsfrom 10am-8:30pm. Eligible for benefits.Part time - Evenings, 12 hours per week. This would be broken up into three4 hour shifts or two 6 hour shifts. Not eligible for benefits.
Qualifications
Education: High School or GEDExperience: 1-year related experienceCertification(s): Certified Registered Central Service Technician(CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT)
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSAn employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of thefollowing essential functions. These examples do not include all of thefunctions which the employee may be expected to perform.Inspects and assembles surgical instruments, equipment, trays and packs.Fills surgery case carts from predetermined listings; may deliver case cartsto surgical floor.Identifies and reports supply, equipment, and procedure problems.Assists in the orientation and continuing education of lower-level SterileProcessing Technicians, fostering a culture of collaboration and effectivecommunication within the department.Maintains established departmental standards by adhering to policies andprocedures, contributing to quality assurance initiatives.Render used items clean and decontaminated manually or mechanically byfollowing established policies and procedures in the decontamination area forinstruments, supplies, carts and equipment.Participates in achieving departmental sterilization objectives by following policies and procedures related to assembly, inspection, sterilization,storage, and proper handling of instrument trays, supplies, and equipment.Develops and maintains expert knowledge of surgical service, sterileprocess, or instrument classification.Collaborates with other Sterile Processing Departments within the organizationto address staffing challenges.
