Job Description:
We are looking for CDL Truck Driver who are reliable, safety conscious, and professional in their interactions with customers. We are also looking for drivers who are interested in a long-term career with us and who have a demonstrated history of longevity with previous employers. Local applicants with pipe hauling experience are preferred as well as driving a lowboy truck.
Job Duties:
Responsible for loading, unloading, reloading and delivery of product or equipment to various destinations. This could involve lifting, pulling, pushing and carrying of boxes, chains and other items weighing up to 75 pounds.
Unload trailer and reload with equipment or other items being returned to various locations.
Control and document all applicable written reports and procedures.
Understand how to hook and unhook to various types of trailers.
Driver is responsible for keeping the exterior and interior of the truck clean.
Drivers will be responsible for proper securement of all types of equipment or cargo and ensuring that all securement devices are in good working order.
Proper handling and accurate completion of all necessary paperwork related to truck operations and product movements to include both state and county permits along with permission from Townships in North Dakota. For other states required permits as needed. All new drivers that will be working in North Dakota need to ensure they receive training on permits prior to operating trucks.
Inspect truck/trailer(s) for defects and safe operating condition before, during and after trips, and submit written report on the condition of the truck/trailers(s) at the end of each trip or tour of duty. This will mainly be completed thru the Zonar 20-20 tablet.
Check shipping papers to determine the nature of product being transported, destination or delivery location and/or any special unloading instructions.
Drive truck to destinations in accordance with Federal regulations. This includes no cell phone use unless using a hands free device and using seatbelts at all times.
Ensure all shipping documentation required to move with shipments is available for inspection and that appropriate paperwork accompanies shipment when delivered.
Maintain records required for compliance with State and Federal regulations including: driver’s logs, records of fuel purchases, mileage records, and other documents required by law. This will mainly be done by using the Zonar tablet that is installed in most of the semi-trucks. New drivers need to ensure they have received training and know how to properly use the Zonar 20-20 tablet.
Report all accidents involving driver, company equipment, and/or private property to your immediate Supervisor, Safety personnel or DOT Compliance person. Report all safety hazards to your immediate Supervisor or Safety Personnel (DOT or Safety).
Perform all other job duties as assigned
Competencies/Skills:
High school diploma, GED or equivalent
Effective English communication skills and good interpersonal skills
Minimum of one (1) year experience operating a diesel truck in a DOT-regulated environment
Valid CDL with a clear 3-year driving record
At least one (1) year of experience and knowledge of or experience in mechanical maintenance and repair of diesel trucks
Work Environment:
Ability to work and drive in all types of weather and conditions
Physical Demands:
Lifting up to 75 pounds
Potential Hazards:
Outside the majority of the time
Potential exposure to extreme cold and hot temperatures
Manufacturing, pipeline, and refining environment
Fit and move in confined spaces including tanks and vessels
Limited working surfaces
The use of X-ray machines
Exposure to noise above 85 decibels and intense odors
Exposure to areas with limited visibility
Essential Requirements:
Climbing up and down stairs and ladders to both get in and out of trenches and up to elevated platforms (scaffolding at significant heights)
Lifting necessary equipment and materials 1-50 pounds, 50% of the time on a monthly basis for required tasks
Potential or Periodic amounts of time for the following:
Walking on uneven terrain, with an average of 2 miles per day
Standing
Sit, stoop, crawl, and kneel
Use of respirator if position requires
Driving if required to travel
If driving is required, valid driver license and proof of insurability is required. All drivers are subject to a DMV background records search.
