Summary of Duties:
The Extension Coordinator is responsible for providing oversight, leadership, and management of the WSU Extension Shore Stewards program in Island County, including originating and/or developing formal education programs, quarterly newsletters, community outreach, and related services. The position is responsible for assisting the Waste Wise Program Coordinator with planning and delivery of the Waste Wise program. This position provides some assistance to the Master Gardener program on Camano and is a representative for extension in the Camano WSU Extension Office. In addition to the above, Shore Steward duties also include developing curriculum, coordinating, conducting and/or evaluating the program (see details below).
In summary, the primary duty of this position is the management of the Shore Stewards program for the entire county. Secondarily, the position will assist the Waste Wise Program Coordinator in activities. Finally the position provides support for the Master Gardener Coordinator, represents WSU Extension -Island County on Camano, and staffs the Camano WSU Extension Office. This position collaborates with other Extension program staff, county staff, community partners, and other program constituents to ensure the program and activities meet guidelines/expectations/objectives/policies& procedures of WSU Extension programming under the direction of the WSU Extension Island County Director.
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in a relevant extension program discipline and two (2) years of related program experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel within targeted counties.
• While using a private or WSU-owned vehicle for official business, must have current automobile liability insurance (meeting the requirements described in RCW 46.30.020and RCW 46.29.090).
• Ability to work a flexible, yet structured schedule with occasional night and weekend shifts to meet the needs of program partners and grant requirements.
• Employment is contingent upon passing a background screening.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact effectively, with persons of varying levels of responsibility and experience, both orally and in writing.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel and Workday.
• Knowledge of WSU Business Policies and Procedures in the areas of personnel, finance, and administration.
• Experience in higher education, local or state agency, or equivalent.
