Job Description
Gilead Sciences, Inc. is a research-based biopharmaceutical company that discovers, develops and
commercializes innovative medicines in areas of unmet medical need. With each new discovery and
investigational drug candidate, we seek to improve the care of patients living with life-threatening diseases around the world. Gilead’s therapeutic areas of focus include HIV/AIDS, liver diseases, cancer and inflammation, and serious respiratory and cardiovascular conditions.
This role will be supporting the European Distributor Markets (EDM) business that manages Regional Business Partners who operate across 14 European continent countries.
The role is based in Dublin, Ireland, whilst the broader EDM team are based around Europe.
Industry/Products
Experience in a pharmaceutical environment is required, as is a solid understanding of principles relating to the area of specialization.
Knowledge of therapeutic area, product or program of specialization is preferred, including Oncology/Virology or other complex therapeutic area expertise.
Experience of strategic launch planning is required.
Business Analytics
Able to provide and influence strategic recommendations to the Business Units regarding Market dynamics and performance, and comfortable in challenging Business Unit teams.
Must be knowledgeable of forecast modelling techniques and how they apply to a particular business problem.
Capable of building analytical models that evaluate business situations and provide recommendations.
Ability to assume full responsibility for accuracy and reliability of complex analyses.
Experience with the design and implementation of performance metrics and defining target performance levels.
Able to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical members of senior management.
Track record for excellent task management skills such as planning, prioritization, objective setting, meeting management and plan execution is required.
In-depth knowledge of global Sales and Marketing organizations and pharmaceutical data sources (e.g., IQVIA, National Insurance House, etc.) is required.
Experience of planning market research projects aligned with strategic objective of the business to ensure robust understanding and forecasting of market dynamics.
Trade Operations
Experience in trade operations/supply chain role is required.
Experience of strategic Trade Operation projects preferred.
Able to manage multiple stakeholders across external Regional Business Partners, internal Distribution and Trade Operations to effectively prioritize critical supply requirements.
General
Must be comfortable working virtually with internal and external stakeholders.
Must be comfortable working with a dynamic environment and demands.
Experience/understanding of the shift to Digital Operations within the Pharmaceutical industry.
In-depth knowledge of relevant software systems (e.g., SAP, Tableau, etc.) is required.
Advanced Excel skills required and proficient at Microsoft Word & PowerPoint.
Specific Job Responsibilities
Business Analytics
Partners all Therapeutic Area teams, attending relevant team meetings.
Provides reliable and accurate analyses and reports to internal customers to support decision making on key strategies.
Designs and implements repeatable processes of analysis that leverage previous investments in systems or data structures.
Owns data and reporting needs for an area of concentration and runs monthly and quarterly processing to support Commercial teams.
Constructs analytical models that effectively simplify the controls or analysis while maintaining the integrity of the underlying data and analytical structures.
Participates in development, implementation, enhancement, and problem resolution of analytical reporting systems utilized by Business Analytics and Commercial.
Liaises with Commercial and Commercial Operations teams to facilitate the development of strategic targets and segmentation tactics.
Provides scrutiny and determines confidence of demand forecasting for individual markets
Conduct review of latest patient actuals and variances vs forecast for Regional Business Partners.
Maintains dashboards with latest #s, proactively communicating variances with the broader team.
Responsible for the tracking of Regional Business Partner performance against targets & KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) including presenting performance to Regional Business Partner Leadership.
Managing submission of all relevant regional data / reports.
Business Analytics lead for all Strategic Projects including move to greater use of Digital Operations
Forecasting
Interacts with Regional Business Leads to confirm or clarify assumptions for forecast modelling or explanations for budget variance.
Responsible for developing complex forecasting models and identifying the drivers of variance in monthly forecasts to ex-Gilead volumes.
Partner with Finance to develop Budget forecast models and process, including the development, training, and consolidation of patient models for Regional Business Partners
Regional Business Partner Incentive Compensation
Oversees setting of Regional Business Partner Incentive targets and KPIs, to ensure strategic growth of the business in the region.
Works with Finance to ensure appropriate budget accruals reflect incentive compensation.
Trade Operations
Responsible for working with Distribution team to ensure the fulfilment of all distributor orders and maintaining a streamlined distribution process.
Schedule and conduct regular meetings with Regional Business Partner demand teams to discuss potential risks & opportunities related to supply and inventory management.
Trade workstream lead for all strategic projects
Other:
Collaborates with various Company functions, in particular IT to analyse operational requirements for reports, document system enhancements and implement system changes.
Participates in the development of written Standard Operating Procedures and documentation of all newly established processes.
Manages ongoing business relationships with data vendors, consultants, and selected partners.
