　　The Bronchoscopy Technician is a member of the healthcare team who, under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, assists the bronchoscopy team in providing safe and efficient care during pulmonary interventional procedures. The prime assignment is to function as the primary assistant to the bronchoscopy team for instrumentation before and during the procedure and specimen collection and preparation during and after the procedure. During the procedure, the RN is administering anesthesia and hemodynamically monitoring the patient and is unavailable to function as an assistant.

　　Job Description:

　　Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:

　　Provides efficient and safe care for acutely ill patients in all areas where pulmonary interventional procedures are performed, including emergency situations (6-West, Fluoro, MICU, SICU, etc.)

　　Works independently as a self-starter, but is able to work as a cooperative team member.

　　Provides an aseptic, safe, fully equipped interventional environment.

　　Adheres to aseptic technique.

　　Sets up all procedures.

　　Cares for all instrumentation and supplies during interventional procedures

　　Directly assists the bronchoscopy team during all interventional procedures.

　　Checks equipment and instrumentation for proper functioning, and takes corrective action when necessary.

　　Collects and processes all specimens.

　　Orders all supplies.

　　Charges for appropriate equipment and supplies

　　Performs all the duties of the Clinic Assistant.

　　Incorporates Lahey Clinic Guiding Principles and Mission Statement into daily activities.

　　Complies with all Lahey Clinic Policies.

　　Complies with behavioral expectations of the department and Lahey Clinic.

　　Maintains courteous and effective interactions with colleagues and patients.

　　Demonstrates an understanding of job description, performance expectations, and competency assessment.

　　Demonstrates a commitment toward meeting and exceeding the needs of our customers and consistently adheres to our customer service standards.

　　Participates in departmental and/or interdepartmental quality improvement activities.

　　Participates in and successfully completes Mandatory Education.

　　Performs all other duties as needed or directed.

　　Minimum Qualifications:

　　Education: High school graduate

　　Graduate of Clinic Assistant Training Program

　　Licensure, Certification, Registration: No

　　Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Sterile technique, some knowledge of interventional equipment. Ability to react appropriately in any emergency situation.

　　Experience: As a clinic assistant or endoscopy or surgical technician
