The Bar Examination Editor workswith legal subject matter experts (e.g., law school faculty, judges, andpracticing attorneys) from around the country to develop content forNCBE\'s high-stakes, legal licensure exams and study aids for thoseexaminations. The Bar Examination Editor is responsible for finalcontent of assigned NCBE examinations in particular content areas andmust complete the assigned work within the exam development andproduction cycles. Attention to detail and participating in amultifaceted quality-control process are critical for success. EssentialDuties and Responsibilities: Provides item-writing assignments tosubject matter experts who draft items in assigned content areas forspecific examinations. Edits submitted items, with particular attentionto substantive accuracy, clarity, appropriateness to entry-levelpractice of law, fairness, and bias. Confirms authorities supporting thecorrectness of answers and verifies the detailed specifications ofitems. Collaborates with other Bar Examination Editors to further edititems in other content areas and for other examinations as needed. Forshort-answer and essay examinations, drafts and edits model answers andgrading materials and verifies authorities supporting those materials.Assists as needed in developing additional item types and specificationsfor new NCBE examinations. Provides ongoing training to subject matterexperts in accordance with established style guides and contentspecifications. Promotes positive working relationships with subjectmatter experts. Manages the item-writing and review cycles for subjectmatter experts and other external review experts.
