We are looking for a dedicated VP of Operations to join our team in Troy, Michigan. In this role, you will be responsible for leading our Alloy Products Division, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and executing strategies for market expansion and operational efficiency. This opportunity is ideal for someone with a background in materials engineering, specifically in the manufacturing of surfacing and brazing products, castings, and engineered components. The ideal candidate with have a strong sales acumen and has owned the P L for at least a $50M Business Unit.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the execution of company's vision and values, striving for operational excellence and fostering a performance culture.

• Ensure all site operations adhere to federal, state, and local safety standards, and drive improvements in workplace health and safety.

• Develop and implement strategies for market expansion, product innovation, and operational efficiency.

• Build and maintain key customer and partner relationships, including joint ventures, to drive growth and competitiveness.

• Oversee the preparation and maintenance of an annual budget to support business planning and manufacturing schedules.

• Serve as a contributing member of the senior management team, assisting in tactical, strategic decision making, and process improvement initiatives.

• Oversee product delivery, ensuring timely, cost-effective shipment of high-quality products that meet or exceed customer expectations.

• Eliminate waste and constraints from the production process to improve efficiencies and enhance productivity.

• Set performance expectations for all employees on site through production management systems and key performance indicators.

• Justify and execute capital expenditures by assessing business needs, preparing cost analyses, and ensuring successful project implementation.

Requirements

Education

BS in engineering or equivalent (MBA strongly preferred) Material Science, Metallurgy and/or Chemical Engineering

Lean/Six Sigma Training is required, with at least a Green Belt and proven experience in driving operational improvements.

Must be willing to travel up to 30% depending primary work location preference. A working knowledge of Microsoft applications; Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc. Deals well with ambiguity; can effectively cope with change; can decide and act without having the total picture; can comfortably handle risk and uncertainty.

People assessment skills is a good judge of talent and can articulate the strengths and limitations of people inside and outside the organization; can accurately project what people are likely to do across a variety of situations.

Conflict resolution, negotiation, and customer relation skills

Interpersonal skills to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

Ability to motivate staff through proper direction and mentoring to build a culture focused on setting and achieving appropriate stretch goals

Excellent verbal and written communication skills to simply and with brevity effectively provide written and verbal
