Pay Range: $40.00 - $60.00 per hour

Job Summary:

The Department of Communication Disorders Sciences (CDS) in the College of Health Sciences is seeking an exceptional candidate with expertise in acquired speech disorders, augmentative and alternative communication, or school-age language disorders. The ideal candidate will embody the mission, vision, and values of Rush and adhere to its policies and procedures. This position has an opening for the faculty role of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in speech-language pathology and is tenure-track. It offers excellent opportunities for teaching, research, and scholarship.

Responsibilities :

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be appointed to a faculty position at Rush in the Clinical and Diagnostic Sciences (CDS) department, with the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. This position entails serving as the director for specialized courses within CDS, particularly in Motor Speech Disorders and Fluency, as well as other aspects of Neurological Sciences. The candidate will be responsible for developing and enhancing the curriculum to meet the evolving needs of the discipline.

In addition to teaching responsibilities, the candidate is expected to establish a robust record of research and scholarly activity that attracts extramural funding for innovative research projects. This includes identifying funding opportunities, writing grant proposals, and contributing to collaborative research initiatives that advance knowledge in the field.

The candidate will also be recognized as an academic leader within the Rush community, actively engaging in various service roles across the university, college, and department, as well as participating in professional activities within relevant organizations. This involvement will enhance the visibility and impact of the CDS program both locally and nationally.

Additionally, the candidate will play a crucial role in mentoring and guiding Rush graduate students by serving as an effective academic advisor and clinical preceptor. This entails providing essential support to students in their academic journeys, overseeing their clinical training, and fostering their professional development in preparation for future careers in the field.

Required Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in Speech-Language Pathology or Speech and Hearing Sciences, along with demonstrated potential for teaching and research.

Candidates must hold the CCC-SLP certification and be eligible for licensure in speech-language pathology in the state of Illinois.

Preferred Qualifications:

Expertise in dysarthria, apraxia of speech, and other acquired speech disorders.

Experience teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level is preferred.
