GENERAL PURPOSE:
Supports the faculty and staff of the University of Rochester in their pursuit of commercializing discoveries and innovations through relationships, funding, established new business ventures and corporate relations. Manages support for technology transfer activities, including licensing and spin-outs. Assists in start-up activity as well as co-manages the University 's Technology Development Fund (TDF).
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Co-Manages the UR Technology Development Fund by: marketing the program within the University; managing the process of ranking applications based on scientific merit, likelihood of commercialization, and go-to-market strategy; maintaining and supporting advisory panels consisting of industry experts, investors, alumni and other parties; leading fundraising activities for the UR Technology Development Fund by interacting with alumni, the Board of Trustees, the local investment community, industry leaders, and others.
Meets with and is the primary contact for University, state and regional entrepreneurship organizations, angel investors, venture capital firms.
Interfaces with and navigates University offices and departments such as Advancement, Government Relations, and the Office of Research and Project Administration on commercialization, corporate-sponsored research, and startup issues.
Functions as an advisor and advocate for faculty for commercialization of products and services arising out of University research by using knowledge of new business commercialization.
Technology management and business development, including start-up generation, of select entrepreneurial opportunities that arise out of the Medical Center and the University’s healthcare enterprise.
Technology marketing activities, alone and in conjunction with other licensing team members.
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in business or equivalent
3-5 years of experience in business, technology development or university fund-raising; or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Advanced degree in business preferred.
Experience managing entrepreneurship and/or licensing matters in a technology transfer or research support unit preferred.
Knowledge of Entrepreneurial Finance and due diligence process preferred.
Familiarity with startup creation process preferred.
Strong knowledge of gathering, analyzing, and reporting data preferred.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills preferred.
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills preferred.

Pay Range
Pay Range: $107,200 - $160,800 Annually
The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
