　　Position Summary:

　　Provides direct day-to-day care of patients and families. Practices to the fullest extent of employee license inaccordance with organizational policies. Under the direction of the Nurse Director, functions as a member ofthe Float Team to implement the patient’s plan of care. Provides population specific care and meets thedevelopmental needs of populations served.

　　ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

　　Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinicaltreatments, as well as other medical care treatment.Documents patient care given.Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, andfamily.Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, andambulation.Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge,referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age,culture, condition, and circumstances.Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient

　　Minimum Qualifications:

　　Minimum EducationAssociate’s degree in nursing required.Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.Required SkillsRequires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.Licenses: Current RN license to practice in NC

　　Tier 1 Float to: Nephrology/Oncology (NEON); 4N; Neuro Progressive Care Unit; Nursing Rehab; Telemetry;Progressive Stepdown Unit (IMCU); Surgical UnitCertifications Required for Tier I:NEON: BLS required4 North: BLS requiredNPCU: BLS required. ACLS and NIH within 3 months of hire or transfer into the position.Rehab: BLS requiredTelemetry: BLS required. ACLS within 3 months of hire or transfer into the position.IMCU: BLS required. ACLS and NIH within 3 months of hire or transfer into the position.Surgical: BLS required.

　　Tier 2: Meet all Tier 1 criteria and be competent to float to two(2) of the specialty areas: Cardiovascular Unit(CVICU); Critical Care Unit (CCU); Neuro Intensive Care Unit (NICU); Emergency Department (ED);Labor/Delivery/Recovery (L&D)Certifications Required for Tier 2:CVICU: BLS required. ACLS, NIH and Handle with Care within three months of hire or transfer into the position.
