Position Summary:
This position supports the specification, design, pilot batches, Pilot Production Batches and the 3rd party manufacturing of all Chemical Products, will be fabricated per specifications. The candidate shall be responsible for analyzing formulas, Lab/Pilot/Production data to determine their robustness, provide direction to the business as to feasibility.
Accountabilities
Interactive member of technical cross-functional teams providing technical expertise, innovation and teamwork.
Develops, and coordinates all activities related to the introduction of formulas.
Keeps abreast of new technologies related to design and manufacturing.
Issues Process Development Summaries
Schedules periodic project status updates.
Provides project estimated costs, delivery and resource timing to program managers.
Design for manufacturability
Analysis interpretation of SPC data
Liaison with formulation chemists to develop batch processing instructions.
Design and execution of pilot plant experiments to define and optimize the process.
Identify problems, suggest solutions, record and report results.
Scale-up formulas from the laboratory to the pilot plant.
Scale-up and transfer technology from the pilot plant to production.
Ensure safety and regulatory compliant procedures are utilized.
Write and ensure compliance with Pilot Plant Operating Procedures.
Write accurate and concise reports.
Troubleshoot plant production issues.
Plan experiments, gather data and make recommendations based on the data in view of the project / issue.
Represent R&D and at times Quality at internal and external (contract labs / plants) for scale up, process experiments, validation batches and or other project related activities.
Fill out paperwork and prepare samples for delivery to Analytical and Micro
Generate and maintain process development history files.
Maintain the readiness of the pilot plant.
Pilot Lab record keeping and inventory
Adhere to 5S and cGMP policies
Required Education, Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, or another related field
Working knowledge of cGMP, cGLP, OSHA, and EPA requirements.
Ability to travel to multiple manufacturing locations.
Ability to lift 50 lb.
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Ability to work in production / pilot lab environment.
Ability to occasionally work extended hours.
Desired Education, Skills and Experience
A minimum of 1 year experience in process development in the consumer products industry or related area.
Experience with IQ, OQ, and Validation preferred.
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Good technical writing skills
Interaction with product concepts from manufacturing into production a plus
The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $75,000. Actual base salary offered to a candidate may vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance.
