Job Description Summary
The Associate Director of Major Giving is responsible for soliciting gifts of $25,000+ to support Nazareth University priority initiatives. Primary duties include pro-actively qualifying prospects, then develop and execute cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans for each assigned donor/prospect.
Essential Functions
The Associate Director of Major Giving will manage a portfolio of 150 – 200 prospects that will consist of existing and newly qualified prospects. This includes creating, documenting and implementing written strategies for each prospect. The strategies will include detailed steps and a time-line to move the prospect through the major gifts pipeline. 15%
The Associate Director of Major Giving will have a goal to secure 150 face-to-face meetings annually. Of these visits, 40 will be first-time visits. 40%
The Associate Director of Major Giving will submit a minimum of 25 proposals (written or verbal solicitations) of $25,000+ that support the University’s highest priorities. This includes securing new/newly documented planned gifts. Dollar goals will be established on an annual basis. 30%
Maintain organized and detailed records in Blackbaud Fundraiser Performance database of all meaningful contacts. 10%
As needed, assist with the training of new gift officers. 2%
Actively participate in staff prospect strategy and department meetings. 1%
Work as a part of a dynamic team to facilitate coordination and communication. 1%
Other duties as assigned. 1%
Required Education, Experience, Technology Applications and Skills
Bachelor’s Degree
Three to five years development experience that includes successfully closing leadership level and major gifts
Articulate, high-energy and goal oriented
Exceptional organizational skills and be able to attend to and prioritize projects
Ability to successfully manage interpersonal working relationships. As appropriate, collaborate with staff in other units and divisions to achieve the goals of the College
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Respect and maintain confidentiality of donor/prospect information
Handles confidential information sensitively and appropriately.
Position requires some evening and weekend work
Ability to meet individual and team goals
Ability to travel as needed
Valid driver’s license
