  Position Summary: 

  The Associate Director is a grant funded position working under the direction of the Mid-Atlantic's Center for Children's Health and the Environment Co-Directors and Principal Investigators. The individual in this position will be responsible for developing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating programs and activities of the Mid-Atlantic Center, as well as the financial management of all sponsored projects including but not limited to establishing budgets, reviewing and reconciling expenses, and manages staffing and resource allocation. The Associate Director will have supervisory responsibilities for all consultants and student research assistants related to this grant. In collaboration with Center Co-Directors, s/he successfully integrates work output, reports, and services with other internal departments and external federal funding organizations. This position will ensure compliance with regulations and policies set forth by Centers for Disease Control, (CDC), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) related to grant activities.  Villanova is a Catholic university sponsored by the Augustinian order.   Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Financial Management: 

   * Serve as finance director for all Center-related sponsored projects; review and reconcile expenses on the Center's financial report to ensure that the expenses are: 

  a) allowable by the sponsor for the project 

  b) allocable to the project 

  c) reasonable and necessary 

  d) supported by required documents 

  e) within the budgeted amounts 

  • Review salary distributions to ensure that they reasonably reflect employees' level of effort on project 

  • Review associated fringe benefits for accuracy 

  • Review the commitments of key personnel, to ensure the costs reasonably reflect the level of effort committed to the sponsors as part of proposal 

  • Ensure that payments to subrecipients are reviewed and processed in a timely manner 

  • Establish budgets, staffing plans, and resource allocation for the Center, in consultation with the MACCHE Co-Directors 

  • Develop and manage programs provided in support of MACCHE's constituencies (physicians, nurses, public health professionals, communities, local,state and federal agencies) 

   

  • Data Management, Analysis and Grant Writing: 

   * Collect and analyze Center data using HIPAA compliant processes using AP's data warehouse platform 

   * Write and submit required quarterly reports to AAP, CDC, and EPA 

   

  • Educational Outreach and Programming: 

   * Coordinate all outreach and educational programming events 

   * Design, implement, and evaluate education/outreach programs, including webinars 

   * Identify enhancements to MACCHE programs and services, and develop the strategy, policy and program processes; develop and manages programs provided in support of MACCHE's constituencies (physicians, nurses, public health professionals, communities, local, state and federal agencies) 

   * Publish in peer-reviewed journals; Present papers at professional conferences 

   

  • Social Marketing, Media, Communication: 

   * Ensure that the Mid-Atlantic Center successful y integrates services with NHS, the broader university campus, as well as the national network of Pediatric Environmental Health Specialty Units 

   * Solely responsible for the content of the website, adhering to AAP/CDC standards; Coordinate social media activities (e.g., Twitter) 

   

  • Grant Writing and Development: 

   * Write grants and explore development opportunities for funding special projects that improve pediatric environmental health 

   

  • Perform additional duties and assist with special projects as assigned. 

  Minimum Qualifications: 

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree required. 

  • 5 years experience working on externally-funded projects. 

  • Demonstrated experience with grants, working with health professionals, professional organizations and community agencies. 

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills; excellent oral and written communication skills and strong organizational and interpersonal skills required. 

  • Ability to function independently with minimal supervision. 

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
