An environmental / toxic tort practice is looking to add an associate attorney to their practice to work remotely in CA!

About Firm:

7-year-old firm with litigation and transactional practice

2 locations, 30 attorneys

This role is oriented around their toxic tort and environmental practice group, but the firm will entertain an associate from insurance defense or complex litigation

Responsibilities of Role:

Toxic tort or insurance defense litigation

Attending depos – should be exposed to (sat in, took notes) but if the attorneys have done depos, even better!

Answering discovery

Drafting pleadings, motions, pre-trial reports

Performing risk analysis

Reviewing medical records (though paralegals do most of this)

Billable requirement: 2000, pro-rated for date of hire (“there is no concern about not meeting it – the work is there!”)

Compensation:

This firm's compensation is competitive. In addition to base salary, compensation includes:

Requirements

Hard Skills:

1-3 years of experience in CA civil litigation: complex commercial or insurance defense, but even better, toxic tort litigation (asbestos, talc, mold, benzine, any unique science)

CA bar license

Soft Skills:

Someone who wants to grow their litigation skills and be promoted!

Not someone who just cares about clocking in and out, but rather someone who takes initiative and is passionate

Someone who wants to do defense work

Not someone coming form big law, this is more of a startup mentality (adaptable, not afraid of change, wants to help build)
