The Louisiana Special Schools are experiencing a critical shortage of certified teachers, school counselors, interpreters and educators of the Deaf or hard of hearing.
The LA SPECIAL SCHOOL DISTRICT is seeking applicants for an
ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY REGIONAL SPECIALIST
This is a 12 month positions, 8 hours per day. Occasional travel may be required.
This position is located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in education/allied health technology or closely related field and/or licensure in an allied health profession with a minimum of three (3) years of experience providing services in the area of Assistive Technology to individuals with disabilities.
Job Concepts
I. Performance Responsibilities:
Develop and provide training to instructional team members and families in the use of Assistive Technology.
Serve as Consortium Assistive Technology team leader.
Serve as an Assistive Technology consultant to school districts in an assigned area to help build capacity in the districts.
Assist the districts in conducting Assistive Technology assessments of students.
Gather and maintain data on LA-AEM activities and support activities provided to the school districts.
Work collaboratively as a member of the assistive technology team in each district.
Collaborate in the development of a website for LA-AEM by creating Blogs and/or Learn Modules
Assist in the establishment of the AEM Center and provide resources and services to Assistive Technology team members, instructional staff and families of students with disabilities.
Develop and/or facilitate distance learning opportunities for staff and families.
Assist Director of LA-AEM by coordinating, planning, and supervising Professional Developments, Trainings, and Conferences throughout the year.
Assist Director of LA-AEM by collecting data, generating reports, and maintaining Memorandum of Understanding with the Louisiana Department of Education.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and/or Director.
Develop tracking system for equipment used in Southwest AEM Center
II. Leadership
To continually study and analyze area(s) of responsibility.
To establish and promote good Center-Community relations.
To develop programs for LA-AEM (AEMing for Success Conference, etc.)
To set up standards for the economic use of utilities, supplies and equipment.
III. Miscellaneous:
To implement Federal, State, Board and Center policies.
To perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and/or Director of Administration.
