Description:
Ball State University’s Department of Elementary Education invites applications for one full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Curriculum and Instruction available August 2024. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in elementary education that focus upon theories and practice in teaching and learning with a strong emphasis on equity, supervising practicum experiences, supervising and conducting research; publishing; partnering with schools and communities; and engaging in professional, university and departmental service. There may be opportunities to advise masters and doctoral students.
Minimum Qualifications:
Earned doctorate in Elementary Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field from an accredited institution by date of appointment; three years of full-time elementary teaching experience; strong background in literacy theory and instruction demonstrated by published refereed articles, book chapters, books or other publications, and presentations at regional, national and/or International conferences.
Preferred Qualifications:
University teaching experience; knowledge of recent trends in education as they pertain to culturally responsive and sustaining pedagogies, education for social justice, and educational inequality; experience working with learners with a diverse array of needs. experiences. and backgrounds; record of seeking and obtaining grant funding; knowledge and capability with technologies in education, including online teaching experience; experience supervising student teaching; commitment to and experience partnering with schools, families, communities, and/or community agencies; strong collaboration skills .
