About Assistant Controller

Description We are bringing on board an Assistant Controller within our team located in American Canyon, California. The role revolves around managing and enhancing the accounting operations, ensuring effective receivables, payables, and general accounting processes. This position offers a long-term contract employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Ensuring that the accounting operations are efficient and effective, including the receivables, payables, and general accounting processes.

• Overseeing and managing the monthly accounting close, including maintaining the close schedule, creating journal entries, preparing reconciliations, reviewing results, and preparing financial reports.

• Supervising the Accounts Payable team to make sure supplier payments are authorized, accurate, and timely. This includes managing the employee reimbursement process and corporate card programs.

• Leading the Accounts Receivables staff to ensure customer invoices are issued correctly and collected promptly.

• Collaborating with the Customer Service and IT teams to manage the EDI processes with customers.

• Managing the reconciliation and reasonableness of payroll-related accounts, reviewing payroll before submission to third-party payroll processor.

• Establishing and maintaining a robust system of internal controls over the accounting operations to mitigate financial risks.

• Coaching and developing the accounting operations team to achieve performance targets and goals.

• Streamlining processes for better efficiency and effectiveness, which includes reviewing, evaluating, and improving procedures and systems.

• Coordinating with the finance teams on budgeting, analysis of financial results, and providing insightful ad-hoc reporting.

• Liaising with outside accountants and government agencies on statutory reporting matters. Requirements • Candidate must have a minimum of 7 years of experience in a similar role as Assistant Controller

• Proficiency in Month End Close procedures is essential

• Strong understanding and experience in Compliance is required

• Experience in Balance Sheet Reconciliation and Bank Account Reconciliation is mandatory

• Knowledge and experience of using Macola software is highly desirable

• Must have experience in Cash Management

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines is necessary

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required

• CPA certification is preferred but not essential.
