About Apprentice Sheet Metal Worker

  The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for Sheet Metal Workers, Local Union 38 Craft Training Fund, will conduct a recruitment from January 2, 2024 through December 30, 2024 for 20 Sheet Metal Worker apprentices.

  Applications can be obtained at Sheet Metal Workers Local Union 38 Craft Training Fund, 38 Starr Ridge Road, Brewster, NY 10509, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding legal holidays, during the recruitment period.

  The Committee requires that applicants

  Must be at least 18 years old.Must have a high school diploma or a high school equivalency diploma (such as TASC or GED) as recognized by official school authorities.Must possess a valid drivers license. Apprentices may be required to operate company vehicles.Must have reliable means of transportation to and from various job sites and required classes at the approved school.Must be willing and able to travel within the jurisdiction of Local Union 38, which includes, the counties of Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster, and Westchester in New York, and the counties of Fairfield and Litchfield in Connecticut.Must submit to drug testing, at the expense of the sponsor, after selection and prior to enrollment in apprenticeship.Must take a Math Test administered by Local Union 38. The trade requires an extensive amount of math and work with rulers.Must provide Certificate of Release or Discharge from active duty form DD214, if applicable, after selection and prior to enrollment in apprenticeship.For further information, applicants should contact Sheet Metal Workers Local Union 38 Craft Training Fund at (845) 278-6983.   Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
