Museum Relocation Aircraft Specialist
Reporting to the Museum Relocation Site Manager, and under the supervision of a Senior Aircraft Specialist, the Aircraft Specialist will be responsible for the disassembly, reassembly, and movement of large aerospace artifacts during a major museum relocation project. The Aircraft Specialist will ensure that large artifact project tasks are completed in a manner that is safe, efficient, and meets project deadlines.

Pay: $30.00-$35.00/hr
Schedule: Monday through Friday 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assembling, disassembling aircraft and movement of airframes and aircraft engines as well as aerospace vehicles to include missiles, rockets and spacecraft.
Work with all types of aircraft construction materials including wood, fabric, metal and composites.
Capacity to work within defined quality standards to ensure timely work completion
Willingness to seek out opportunities to build new skills and develop work quality
Propensity to adapt to changing tasks and project requirements on short notice
Take on additional responsibilities as needed
Read and understand aircraft blueprints and technical data
Familiarity with the safe use of basic tools and equipment
Must maintain safe, clean, and orderly conditions in assigned work area
Ability to work off manlifts as needed
Periodical work night shifts or weekends ( This work will be coordinated and scheduled well in advance )
Stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and climb on a regular basis and be able to lift 50 pounds
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum 4 years’ experience working with, assembling, disassembling and/or moving of airframes and subassembly components of internal combustion and/or jet type aircraft, as well as, aerospace vehicles such as, missiles, rockets, spacecraft and/or satellites.
Must have worked with typical aircraft materials of metal, wood, fabric, composite, and/or plastics/Mylar, as typically found exhibited in museums. Aircraft Specialists shall be directed by Senior Aircraft Specialists.
Aircraft Specialist (Former Military) - Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the operation of lifting and moving equipment used in support of moving and servicing aircraft.
Skills and experience are to include the safe and proper operation of electric, propane, diesel or gasoline fueled personnel lifts, forklifts, light cranes, etc.
Must have appropriate industry certification for each piece of equipment that is operated.
FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license OR
Equivalent experience as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician or in a restoration setting
Be able to complete a background check
Forklift Certification, Aerial Lift Certification, or Rigging Experience is a plus
