This application encompasses maintaining andoperating farm machinery and equipment as well as irrigation equipmentand systems. Workers will also do general farm labor. All other dutiesassigned.
Operators and Truck drivers of all equipment will have the knowledge andskills to operate their piece of equipment safely and without
accidents.
They will hold a current drivers license required for what they aredriving (non-CDL, farm exempt trucks and tractors).
They will be able to work efficiently with their co-workers and withoutany discrimination or infighting.
They will be able to communicate well with their co-workers. They willbe able to organize themselves to maximize daily productivity andwithout long startup delays each morning.
They will be able to work as one unit such as a harvest operation, orsolo as needed. All drivers will inspect and assist with service andmaintenance of the equipment daily or as needed to ensure the equipmentis operating normally. Non-functional items will be reported to theirsupervisor and/or the mechanic for repair.
All operators and drivers will be responsible to keep their equipmentclean and free of debris inside and out. All operators and drivers willbe
expected to perform or assist in repairs and upkeep.
All tractor drivers will need to know how to adjust the functions oftheir machine including, engine and transmission settings, hydraulicsettings,
and autosteer settings.
With training expected to use software applications to operateirrigation systems and understand and operate GPS unit in tractors.
The employer requires three (3) months of agricultural equipmentoperator experience and there is a 60-pound lifting requirement.
The anticipated hours listed represent the normal work schedule. Due tothe nature of these crops, weather, and the requirement to send crops to
customers when needed, it is the prevailing practice to work more ordifferent hours than those listed. A worker may be offered more than thespecified hours of work; however, the worker will not be required towork for more than the number of hours specified in the job order, or onthe workers Sabbath or Federal holidays. Saturday work may be required.
Workday start times vary depending on the weather. depending on the timeof year, hours of daylight, and production requirements. There may beperiods
when little or no work will be available due to weather, time of year,and the requirements of the cropping or growing season. Workers must beable to work
varying shifts as required by the season and work performed. Workers arenotified of any change in the start times. Work may be performed duringrain,
light snow, cold, freezing temperatures and/or in high humidity and intemperatures over a 100 degrees F. Worker may be required to work infields when
crops are wet with dew/rain and should have suitable clothing forvariable weather conditions.
Workers job duties may require split shifts (e.g. 5:00 am to 10:00am and5:00pm to 8:00pm). Work hours may vary were there are periods when extra
hours are offered and periods of reduced hours are available due toweather, crop conditions, and time of year.
Workers must possess requisite physical strength and endurance to repeatthe harvest process throughout the workday. Workers must work at asustained, vigorous pace and make bona-fide efforts to work efficientlyand consistently that are reasonable under the climatic and all otherworking conditions.
Workers may never ride on agricultural equipment not designed for workrelated riding purposes or any other non-passenger intended equipmentunless instructed and authorized by the employer or supervisor to do so.
Workers with valid drivers licenses and that ar insurable may transportworkers, equipment, supplies or crop.
All work-related injuries must be immediately reported to the crewleader, foreman, or supervisor.
Employer-paid drug test may be required if a worker has an accident atwork.
Full Growing Season Commitment: The job offered requires that the workerbe available for work every day that work is available for the fullperiod of employment. The worker agrees to be available for work andperform the assigned work for the assigned employer whenever work isavailable through the full period of employment.
Training: There will be a demonstration period to familiarize workerswith job specification and to demonstrate proper harvest methods andother crop specific issues such as particular grading, sizing orequipment operation.
Wheel Lines
1.Shut off water and disconnect hose. Start gasoline engines and operatecontrols to move lines across field at specified intervals
2.Reconnect hose and start water
3.Check all sprinkler heads are operating properly and repair as needed
Pivots
1. Push on switch that activates the pivot and pump sprinkler system
3. Use shovel to dig out pivot tracks and haul straw bales or gravel toaid in pivot when stuck
4.Repair pivot irrigation systems as instructed
Other Irrigation Duties
1.Remove pipes/wheel lines from storage and lay out/place inpredetermined patterns in fields
2.Lubricate, adjust, repair, and replace parts such as sprinkler headsan drive chains using hand tools
