Job Summary
The Advanced Practice Provider (APN or PA) manages a caseload ofpatients and exercise autonomous decision making in the assessment,diagnosis and initiation of delegated medical treatments. The scope ofpractice includes family support, discharge planning, staff education,consultation and research. In this role, the selected candidate providesdirect support to patients cared for under the OHNS/Maxillofacialservice. The APP will utilize advance practice skills obtained throughthe completion of a formal provider program. These skills includeadvanced levels of assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation ofcare, as well as performing some invasive procedures.
Responsibilities
Gathers pertinent information systematically and skillfully from allsources: history, diagnostic tests, comprehensive physicalexamination, and psychosocial assessments.Participates as a first-assist during OR procedures.Differentiates normal and abnormal variations for all body systems.Assesses patient and family adaptation, coping skills and the needfor crisis or other intervention.Analyzes multiple sources of data in making clinical judgments andin determining the effectiveness of a plan of care.Develops problem lists with associated differential diagnosis.Incorporates assessment findings into a plan to direct patient care.Formulates a plan of care in collaboration with the patient, family,physician, nursing staff and other member of the health care team,which incorporates health care maintenance, discharge, and follow-upcare.Plans and implements appropriate pharmacological therapies.Initiates referrals based on patient and family need.Seeks appropriate consultation dependent upon patient health careneeds.Promotes, has knowledge of and utilizes appropriate patient careprotocol relating to the physical, psychosocial and developmentalneeds of adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.Participates in research projects in the practice area.May be subject to on-call responsibilities.Designs patient education programs that include information requiredto make informed health care and treatment decisions.Evaluates goals and outcomes taking into account thebenefit-versus-burden, safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness forthe patient, family and the organization.Develops diagnostic strategies and therapeutic interventions neededto achieve the goals and outcomes of the patient\'s plan of care.Performs other related work as needed.Minimum Qualifications

Minimum requirements include a college or university d gree from anaccredited school/college.
