The Massachusetts State Reclamation and Mosquito Control Board (SRMCB), within the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (MDAR), oversees mosquito control in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts including 11 regional programs. SRMCB establishes administrative and technical policies, guidelines, and best management practices to ensure mosquito control programs are safe and effective. MDAR’s mission is to help keep the Massachusetts’ food supply safe and secure, and to work to keep Massachusetts agriculture economically and environmentally sound. EMMCP and SCMCP are agencies of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that provides mosquito control services to 29 cities and towns in the Greater Boston area. Interviews will be conducted at 11 Sun St, Waltham, MA 02453. Job location will be split between 39 Industrial Dr, Boston, MA and 11 Sun St, Waltham, MA 02453. The EMMCP & SCMCP Administrative Field Supervisor will spend roughly 80% of their time in the office and 20% of their time in the field. The Administrative Field Supervisor reports directly to the Superintendent or their designee. This position is responsible for managing assigned Field Technicians. It would be beneficial if the applicant has experience using biological identification keys. The applicant must be proficient with Microsoft Word/Excel, have basic accounting skills and strong telephone communication skills. * * Duties and responsibilities will include: 1. Supervise, train, and evaluate assigned staff. Schedule daily activities. 2. Maintain financial records according to the EMMCP formula for allocating costs. 3. Process financial transactions utilizing State accounting methods and forms. 4. Receive daily worksheets and process data. 5. Set out/pick up mosquito traps, identify mosquitoes to species and prepare mosquito samples to be submitted to Massachusetts Department of Public Health to be tested for West Nile virus and eastern equine encephalitis. 6. Mix and apply pesticides. 7. Navigate and drive trucks equipped with spray equipment along assigned routes. 8. Wear boots and traverse wetlands to sample water for mosquito larvae and apply larvicide as needed. 9. Drive, walk or ride a bicycle along catch basin routes to apply larvicide. 10. Operate and maintain shop equipment and maintain Project facilities. 11. Answer telephone and communicate with the public regarding mosquito control operations. 12. Attend meetings of the East Middlesex and Suffolk County Mosquito Control Commissions, record and transcribe minutes. 13. Keep appropriate inventories of office supplies, work reports and other forms as needed. Responsible for procuring office supplies. 14. Basic mapping using GIS software (ArcGIS and Google Earth). 15. Perform various duties as assigned by the Superintendent or their designee. The applicant must possess a valid Massachusetts Pesticide Applicator License within 30 days of the hire date. Once the Administrative Field Supervisor passes the pesticide license exam, the employee will be reimbursed for the exam fee. The employer will also pay for the pesticide license. The applicant must possess a valid Driver’s License. This is a full-time, year-round position. Work Week: 40 hours/week; Monday - Thursday (1st shift); there will be some 2:00 PM – 12:00 AM shifts required during the mosquito season (June-September).
