  Description

  Chicago Transit Authority is the second largest transit system in the country! Our college internship program offers summer and year-long internships that provide students with valuable work experience, professional development, and mentorship. Students receive exposure to the discipline of the workplace and are guided by subject matter experts who assist them in acquiring the skills, knowledge, and experience needed to perform in today’s technically demanding careers. Interns at CTA work in a range of departments across the authority.

  Our internships are project-based; therefore, the skills that we seek vary based on the needs of the projects during each term. All majors are welcome to apply, but please see education experience/requirements for specifics about what disciplines each internship project is seeking.

  Internships are part-time (15 hours a week) during the school year and full-time (40 hours a week) during the summer.

  In this role within the Training & Workforce Development department’s Learning and Support - Career and Leadership Development Programs (CLDP) unit, interns will:

  Shadow CLDP team members across all functions—including instruction, coaching, logistics coordination, relationship management, and learning technology systems in order to gain exposure to learning and development activities.

  Support coordination and delivery of CLDP programs and workshops in virtual, in-person, and hybrid formats, which includes assisting with needs assessments, marketing, registration, pre/post evaluations, and co-facilitating content.

  Make recommendations for enhanced delivery methods and incorporate current technologies to expand training reach.

  Participate in the full learning cycle, including the development of curriculum and materials, piloting new programs, analyzing participant feedback, and recommending ongoing program improvements.

  Perform research and analysis on best practices in training to support enhancement of existing programs.

  Create participant guides, presentations, and other learning materials. Assist with content updates for existing workshops.

  Primary work location for this role: CTA Headquarters (567 W. Lake Street, Chicago Illinois 60661)

  Qualifications

  Educational Experience/Requirements:

  Preferred Major(s): Training and Development, Human Resources, Organizational Leadership, Organizational Psychology, Adult Learning, Education

  Preferred Level of Education: College junior and above

  Required enrollment status: Full-time (as defined by your academic institution) in a degree program at an accredited college or university

  Physical Requirements:

  The demands associated with the normal office environment

  Must be able to comply with office policy to work on-site twice per week

  Light physical activity, including walking outdoors and climbing stairs

  Requires remaining in a stationary position for extended periods of time, particularly during meetings or while working at a desk

  Requires standing in one location for hours during facilitation

  Ability to transport training materials to different conference rooms or training locations, which involves carrying items such as handouts, manuals, training aids, and equipment

  Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  Strong Microsoft Office and computer skills

  Strong oral and written communication skills

  Good analytical and critical thinking skills

  Good organizational skills with attention to detail

  Good project management skills

  Knowledge of curriculum development, instructional design, and adult learning

  Ability to facilitate training virtually, in person and hybrid

  Advanced skills in Zoom video conferencing

  Working knowledge of visual communication tools such as Piktochart, Canva, and Moovly

  Strong interpersonal and observation skills and coachability

  Strong research, analytical, and organizational skills

  Ability to work independently

  Ability to maintain amiable relations with various levels of internal and external stakeholders and decision-makers

  Desired Skills (not required) are e-Learning Authoring Tools such as Adobe Captivate, Articulate 360, Camtasia, Raptivity

  Additional Details: Final salary will be determined in part by the qualifications of the selected candidate and may be higher or lower than target.
