Internship Program Overview
Raymond James is the place where good people grow and nowhere is that better demonstrated than in our internship program. During the 9-week immersive experience, you will engage with and implement the firm’s core values through our five guiding behaviors. Featuring a comprehensive orientation, onsite and remote training sessions in professional development, networking events, a speaker series, and volunteer opportunities, you will be equipped with knowledge of the business and culture to help you build relationships and develop skillsets for the internship and your future.
To be eligible for the summer 2024 internship program, you must be a junior or senior standing candidate pursuing a bachelor's or master’s degree in business or finance with a graduate date of May 2025. Most positions are based in St. Petersburg with other available locations depending on company need.
Candidates who successfully complete the internship program have the opportunity to transition into a full-time role at Raymond James after graduation.
Department Overview
The RIA & Custody Services Division (RCS) serves as a clearing firm for independent broker-dealers and as a custodian for independent Registered Investment Advisor firms (RIAs).
Job Summary
The individual(s) chosen for this role will have the opportunity to work directly with all levels of the department including senior leadership. Curiosity and innovation skills will be key when participating in projects that will impact the department for years to come. Understanding of the regulatory agencies that oversee Broker-Dealer and RIA firms will be essential in understanding how the different areas of the business work together to mitigate risk and implement product solutions while delivering a superior client experience.
Internship Length: 10 weeks
Start Date: May 28, 2024
End Date: August 2, 2024
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, up to 40 hours per week
Duties and Responsibilities
Gain in-depth exposure and hands on experience working with teams dedicated to providing operational excellence for RIAs and Introducing Broker Dealers.
Participate in initiatives aimed at continuous process and infrastructure improvements; identify areas of operational inefficiency and implement proposed enhancements.
Create clear and concise documentation to define operational process and proposed improvements.
Learn how to define and track success criteria for assigned initiatives with a focus on operational efficiency and due diligence.
Assist others working with cross-functional stakeholders (Client Engagement, Complex Client Solutions, Finance, Business Development) to communicate and provide necessary updates
Participate in leadership mentorshipmeetings withRCS Chief Operating Officer.
Operates standard office equipment and uses required software applications.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of
Microsoft Office functions (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio is a plus).
FINRA and the SEC and how they oversee RIAs and Broker Dealers.
Fundamental concepts of financial marketsand products.
Relationship management software and applications is a plus.
Fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of a professional office environment.
Basic concepts, principles, and practices of an assigned business unit.
Skill in
Creating process documentation and diagrams.
Preparing and delivering written reports.
Effective time management and ability to meet set deadlines.
Presenting to large and small audiences.
Critical thinking and the ability to identify areas of risk to the organization.

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:
Pursuing undergraduate or master’s degree in business, finance, or a related field.
Expected Graduation Date: May 2025 or earlier.
Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.
