The internship will last approximately 10 weeks and the rotation will include the following:
Safety/Operations:
Introduction to the team and Branch Manager
Safety and training videos
Equipment Certification
Introduction to operations
Field:
Introduction on the role of a Groundsperson
Dispatch and routes of various jobs
Work with Crew Leader and crews
Introduction to the role of a Climber
Pruning and hauling brush
Observing proper sterilization of chainsaws and pruning tools
Learn proper pruning techniques, equipment usage, chipping, and disposal
Plant Health Care/Heavy Assets:
Introduction to different types of diseases, pests, conditions
Importance of Plant Health Care in addition to GTC
Treatment options
Shadow an applicator
Types of machinery for special projects
Safety
Identifying appropriate uses of heavy assets
Assessment/Tree ID:
Client and Account Manager Relationships
Management of Crew Members (Dispatching, coaching, interaction, and check-ins)
Time and budgeting
Job Scheduling and Planning
Estimating and Generating Proposals
Job walks with AM & Client
Quality assurance
You might be a good fit if you have:
Pursuing a bachelors or associates degree in any areas of Horticulture such as the following: Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Science, Construction Management, Agriculture-Business, Landscape Design or Plant Science
And while not mandatory, it would be great if you also have:
Proficiency with computer software programs including MS Office suite (Word, Excel and Outlook)
Self-motivated to work on tasks
Effective oral and written communication skills
Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast paced environment
Strong work ethic
