Job Description
The Student Assistant - Social Media, under supervisor, will work with various social media platforms and content tools for creating digital content.
Duties:
-Research and produce content that is on trend with current students in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences
-Research and produce content that is relatable to the average Texan
-Flexibility to work outside normal schedule for event coverage
-Comfortable with being in front of a camera and interviewing others
-Flexibility in short-notice assignments and quick turnaround content creation
-Ability to take initiative and form content ideas and strategize how accounts can align with current social media trends
-Connections or willingness to connect with students groups as a liaison for collaborative content production
-Understanding of who and where our demographic is on social media and the best way to reach out and connect with them
-Stay abreast of current trends, research algorithms, and understand evolving best practices in social media management
-Monitor results of social media content on key platforms and provide analytics reports
-Learn brand standards, familiarize self with voice and tone of the brands, ensure content aligns with the goals and mission of each channel
-Assist in monitoring platforms for error-free posting, accessibility, and fine-tuning strategies including hashtags, cover photos, keywords, etc.
-Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
Skilled with mobile app photo and video editing tools
Possesses strong communication skills
-Comfortable with designing in Canva, preferred but not required
-Comfortable with or understands how to use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube
Knowledge of how to align with an editorial style guide and branded content requirements
-Basic video, graphic design and writing skills
-Understanding of web accessibility, best practices, and standards
-Ability to assume responsibility for guiding projects and programs from inception through completion
-Ability to work in an environment where you may have multiple tasks needing attention at once and knowing how to prioritize
-Attention to detail and an eye for basic design elements in photo, design, and video
-Minimum availability of 20 hours a week, Monday-Friday 8a-5p, with exception of events which may fall on nights and weekends
Preferred Skills:
-Current student in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, preferred but not required
-Experience on social media platforms or a strong understanding of how various platforms work and effectively navigating and utilizing them.
-A mobile phone you are comfortable with using to create content on and manage or monitor social media accounts
