Telework: Yes - Required to work in the St. Paul office every Wednesday*This position exists to oversee strategy, marketing plan and promotion for inbound travel of all types from new, existing, emerging and developing markets. Target markets are primarily overseas geographical locations which include, but not limited to, Europe and Asia. This position leverages a broad network of industry organizations including cooperative marketing and destination marketing agencies, associations, leisure trade, media and consumer channels, allied businesses, and partners to extend the marketing reach and create opportunities for the benefit of Minnesota’s tourism industry. The position oversees the Market Development’s department staff, budget, contracts, and professional vendors to ensure strategy, tactical planning and execution are aligned with overall agency marketing and objectives.
J ob duties include, but are not limited to:
Manage consumer-facing overseas marketing/promotion/public relations campaigns and initiatives, and travel trade marketing and promotions activities for Explore Minnesota. Key groups/audiences include international consumers and travel trade (tour operators, group travel/packaged travel businesses, meetings, conventions and incentive organizers, event planners), airlines, travel media and influencers.
Create and facilitate key external stakeholder relationships necessary to advance the development of new and emerging markets, including leveraging partnerships and creating advocates through stakeholder education.
Supervise, coach, and develop direct report team members
Assist Explore Minnesota leadership as assigned to achieve the broader goals of the organization.
Minimum Qualifications

Minimum of Four (4) years of Professional experience in a related field such as the tourism industry, marketing, communications, or project management
Bachelor‘s degree in a Travel and Tourism Management or closely related field as determined by the agency, may substitute one (1) year of experience; master’s degree substitutes for eighteen (18) months of experience.
Experience planning, creating and executing an integrated marketing and communications plan.
Experience managing budgets and staff.
Technical skills in Microsoft office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams.
Demonstrate abilities in primary market research, knowledge of reliable data sources and ability to accurately gather and interpret data so that market opportunities can be identified, reviewed and assessed.
Experience in writing professional communications and promotional copy, as well as agreements, contracts, reports and creating presentations.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all audiences including international clients and audience. Persuade, motivate and influence travel industry worldwide to develop tourism to Minnesota.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of the Minnesota travel product
Knowledge of the travel distribution funnel and business practices worldwide including pricing, incentives, promotion, product development and marketing.
Knowledge of digital, print, social media, video, and public relations.
Knowledge of MN State government policies, procedures, processes, laws and rules.
