Description Robert Half is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant with terrific organizational skills to take up a long-term contract / temporary to hire position at a growing company in the Non-Profit industry. As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for the preparation of journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. You will be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. You will assist in developing and implementing accounting policies. In addition, you will take part in compliance, review schedules for the reporting processes, and interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits. This position is very involved as it will produce Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Based in the Medford, New York region, this company offers an engaging and mulit-faceted opportunity where effort is rewarded.
Major responsibilities
Manage the design and creation of balance sheet analysis and communicate reports to management
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed
Be responsible for account reconciliations including prepaid expenses, payroll, and other assignments
Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Take part in various department-wide initiatives
Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner
Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Complete month end close, journal entries, without supervision
Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
Maintain fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation Requirements - Top notch analytical, quantitative and social skills
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment
Spreadsheet and database capabilities
Detailed and have the ability work independently
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Self-starter and strong ethical standards
Knowledgeable of ERP systems
Annual Financial Reporting experience desired
Expertise in Analyze Financial Statements
Bank reconciliations experience
Deep understanding of month end closings
Experience with Credit card accounting
Ability to handle multiple projects within strict deadlines
