Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or relevant field of study required; master’s degree preferred
Work Experiences:
5-10+ years of deep knowledge of construction regulations processes and practices and experience with mid to big box build to suit / reverse build to suit and takeover spaces, tenant fit out.
Strong experience in all phases of the retail project life cycle, including but not limited to Real Estate, Design, Construction, Contracts Administration, Finance, Store Operations, Legal, Facility Maintenance etc.
Financial planning and budgeting experience required
Project Management preferred
Retail experience preferred

Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to interface effectively with individuals at various levels
Ability to work well under pressure while consistently meeting time sensitive deadlines
Analytical with strong problem-solving abilities and creative resolution skills
Ability to remain organized, pay attention to detail, and meet critical deadlines
Ability to work well independently, as well as effectively contribute to a team environment
Ability to prioritize workload, meet multiple deadlines simultaneously in a fast paced, frequently changing environment
Strong Microsoft office program experience including Excel, Word, AutoCAD and PowerPoint

Responsibilities:
Oversee construction and remodeling projects
Build strong cross-functional relationships with key leaders to ensure projects meet company objectives
Set over-all team direction for value engineering and costs against company criteria and benefits
Responsible for the training and development of all Construction team members
Responsible for all new store and remodel budgets
Travel to job sites regularly to check progress, and overall workmanship, and to ensure work is on schedule
Oversee processing of all pay applications, change order requests, and requests for information related to the Construction Department
Review paperwork for accuracy, completeness, and supporting documentation
Return inaccurate or incomplete pay applications and change order requests to the architects for submittal
Facilitate communication between contractors, Vendors, Academy and grow the Vendor pool.
Ensure project management tool is utilized and updated
Work with key leaders to improve Academy stores through design, value engineering and cost benefit
Maintain open communication with all business partners
Assume a leadership role on timely execution of initiatives
Seek to understand all points of view and work through conflicts to negotiate outcomes that support objectives and serve the customer
Provide competitive insights and best practices on construction processes and innovations
Provide direction to team, vendors, procurement and legal for contracts and liabilities of construction related programs and equipment
Establish process, procedures and policies that support the work and maximize efficiency and productivity
Utilize all performance management tools for on-going development, engagement, and retention of all team members
Develop a thorough understanding of Academy’s policies, procedures and safety rules
Duties may change; team members may be required to perform other duties as assigned

Up to 50% travel, as needed
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays as necessary
Acceptable level of hearing and vision to perform job duties
